About Farnam Fly Control Products

Three-Stage Fly Control

Three-Stage Fly Control

When it comes to fly control, you have more options than ever before. And while there’s no single solution that will completely banish these pests, Farnam’s three-stage approach—block, repel, reduce—lets you fight flies on all fronts. That means using different products for specific scenarios to achieve the most effective fly control.

Farnam’s No Fly Zone

Flies can spread diseases that are debilitating or even life-threatening. You do not want these pests hanging around your horse or barn if you can avoid it! The key to victory against flying pests is attacking them on multiple levels.

Block with Physical Barriers

The best way to keep flies off your horse’s face is to block them with a good fly mask, which also protects against dust, dirt and debris.

Repel and Kill Pests

Your horse’s environment will help determine whether a spray, spot-on or wipe-on fly repellent is best.

Reduce Pest Population

To complete the No Fly Zone, give your horse a feed-through fly control product with ingredients that work through the manure, not the body.

    I love this pink formula!

By PinqueLady on Jun 1, 2021

I have used Swat for several years. We have Great Pyrenees livestock guardians and the flies chew up their noses something awful. Because of their hair, their noses are the only problem area we have on them with the flies. Until now, the only Swat I have used has been the clear ointment. It has a Vaseline-like consistency but it works great and lasts all day. I decided to try this original pink formula that was available from Chewy, which was the first time I had ever seen it. I like this original pink formula better. It’s not nearly as greasy and I love the fact that because it’s pink, I can tell exactly where I’ve put it, therefore making sure their entire nose area is covered. The pink doesn’t disappear, so they have pink noses all day but that doesn’t bother me. As far as effectiveness, I can’t tell any difference between the two formulas. Both last all day and do a fantastic job at keeping flies off the dogs noses. … more

    SWAT Ointment

By Famie on Jul 12, 2021

I use this in the summer for my horse, especially on his face and chest, with biting flies and other nuisance bugs. It definitely helps keep them away. I like the pink as I can see where I applied the ointment. My horse thanks me too!

Pink Swat is the BEST Swat

By OldMare on Apr 1, 2021

The pink formula works much better than the clear option. Lasts for days and works well, doesn't run when your horse gets sweaty. The pink formula is hard to find in my area Thanks Chewy!

    Pretty in pink!

    By hDxB on Jul 27, 2020 top100Contributor

I didn’t realize this was neon pink until after I bought it. I’ve always gotten the clear from the feed store. I think I actually prefer the color. Swat formula works extremely well. I put it on my mares udders/inner upper legs and the little flaps of skin where her hips meet her trunk and her belly button/trunk where the summer sores happens and it stays on all day with 90+ degree heat and 80+ humidity. Great for ears too! Works great for my gelding who’s sheath and inner legs are very sensitive to permethrin and this doesn’t bother him at all. They both don’t get bites in those sensitive areas now. It’s a bit pricey but it lasts compared to spray and you don’t need much at each application I didn’t realize this was neon pink until after I bought it. This stuff WORKS!

By Patty on Jul 12, 2020

My little donkeys are fly magnets, especially the two with white legs. I like the pink Swat because it's easy to see if I've missed a spot on them. I apply Swat every 3-5 days; and the bugs leave them alone. Just a note, not a complaint, I wear a glove to apply Swat because it's made to stay where you put it. Chewy got this to me quickly and at a good price.

    Great fly ointment

    By Shana77 on Aug 18, 2020

My horse had minor surgery, the vet recommended Swat to put around (not on it) surgical site to keep flies away. Yes, it works.

    Fly's go away

By Bella on Jul 13, 2020

Swat really works as long as the dog will leave it on. I have to put on at least twice daily.
