Great product for a good price. Now that the Christmas backlog is taken care of..fast delivery as well.
Great and high-quality ingredients. My cats preferred the chicken over the beef.
Boy is this Beef Hoki stinky fish smell!! But, our Siberian kitties loooooove it.
Both my cat (not food/treat motivated) and new kitten (extremely food motivated) love these. The smell makes me dry heave a little so I’ve got some things to work out.
I've been switching my ferrets over to better food recently, one of them took right to it but the other is picky. a few weeks later and they're both eating it just fine! i add a little bit of water and mix it with another food. i greatly appreciate the transparency with the formula and ingredients for this food! only gripe i have is the cost and how fast we go through the bag, but i love my boys and want them to have only the best so its fine. overall, 4/5 stars!
My cats love the wet food from this brand. We tried two different kinds of the hard food. No one will eat either flavor. This is a bummer because I like ingredients.
My cats love it as a treat or a meal. Either rehydrated or dry. They beg for it!
Ingredients sounded wonderful but none of my cats and none at the rescue would eat it. Sadly, I can not recommend it
A couple of years ago, my boy, Apollo, fell in love with the Feline Natural Beef & Hoki Feast flavor - as soon as I opened the bag for the first time! He smelled it and started to meow like crazy! I immediately felt some relief and some hope that he would like it just as much when he tasted it. I was having difficulty getting him to eat. Bingo! It was a great success. He does like the morsels, but he rejects the powder. Another reviewer wrote about how the Beef & Hoki disintegrates to powder perhaps due to the flaky nature of Hoki. Sometimes over half the bag is powder which is frustrating when my cat doesn't eat it. I wrote to the manufacturer about it , and if my memory serves they explained that this happens because all of their ingredients are pure and they do not include any additives that would - for lack of a better term - keep it "stuck together." I would have to look up the email to quote their reply more accurately, or verbatim, but that was the gist of their response. I appreciated their follow-up in a seemingly "follow-up-less" world of customer care. Now the priority at hand and my reason for writing today is this: My kitty will no longer eat his once favorite Feline Natural Beef & Hoki Feast freeze dried raw food. Approximately a couple of months ago the Feline Natural Beef & Hoki Feast was delivered. At first, upon inspecting the contents of the bag, I was happy because the bag was full of "pieces/morsels" versus "powder." I felt like I was getting my money's worth for a change. (Yes, the food is expensive but it is worth it. He maintains a healthy weight, bright eye and lots of energy. Anyway, I digress.) Despite my satisfaction about quantity and consistency, I did immediately notice that the food was lighter in color and did not smell as strongly. It normal has a substantially sweet, favorable odor (for cat food, that is!) When I prepare it for my boy I add a little bit of warm water and let it cool off. The warmth of the water "beefs up" (pardon the pun) the appetizing odor that brings my boy right to his bowl from wherever he his! The warm water also turns the food a darker brown color. It creates an appetizing beef broth that I end up having to pour out because he does not like It too wet. Ah, the things we cat moms and dads will do. What is recently and consistently missing in my recent deliveries is that dark brown quality, soft consistency and the sweet, appetizing odor. The pieces are also ... harder. Adding warm water does not accentuate this flavor's assets. So, now my kitty turns his nose up at his once favorite Feline Natural Beef & Hoki Feast - immediately. He literally runs away from it. I received two bags every two weeks the auto-ship. I opened the second bag hoping that it was his normal beef hoki Feast but the same thing unfortunate results occurred. At some point in this process I took another risk and ordered one single replacement bag. The results? Sadly, I could tell when I opened this particular bag that it was a substantially higher ratio of "powder" to "morsels," but it looked and smell like it normally does. For the first time I didn't care about the powder outweighing the morsels; I just wanted Apollo to be happy with a full tummy of his favorite food. He ate it. He was happy. And so was his Mommy! I thought this success meant that Feline Beef & Hoki Feast was back to normal! However, this was not the case. The next autoship order arrived with the previously described deficits in odor, color and consistency. Once again, my Kitty would not touch it. Once again. He was hungry. Chewy has been fabulous about crediting my account and replacing the bags. Now we cat owners know something about cats: Cats want what cats want. And cats will almost starve themselves until they get what they want. This is the position I am finding us in right now, and I'm very worried for him. He wants his regular "stuff." I've been reading as many reviews as I can find to see if other customers are experiencing the same frustrating phenomenon than I am experiencing. I heard that, because of the pandemic, there is a beef shortage. With the color of the beef hoki not being as dark brown and with the smell being quite diminished, I am surmising that perhaps the manufacturer is experiencing a beef shortage that is affecting the Beef & Hoki variety. This shortage might be an explanation for why my cat now rejects thia flavor. I recall that this food is derived from grass-fed cattle in New Zealand. (Need to dpuble-check my memory on this. Doesn't it say this on the bag? I don't want to stop feeding Apollo his favorite (which is also benefiting his health), but I might have to do hust that. And now I've tried everything under the sun to replace it and my dear boy will not eat the alternatives I offer hin. This situation is very stressful for both of us especially since I'm financially devastated right now and he us hungry! Doesn't it say this on the bag? Apollo is my world, my Light, my comfort, my companion and my anecdote for prolonged isolation - even before the pandemic - due to chronic illness. He takes care of me; I take care of him. We rescued each other when he emerged from the woods that day and looked up right into my eyes. Anyway, enough of me. This is about my boy, Apollo. Is anyone out there experiencing the same problem with Feline Natural Beef & Hoki Feast for cats?
My old cat has IBD and chronic pancreatitis. He was maintaining on another food until they changed their formula and now he refuses to touch it. I spent days researching foods. He almost died a year ago so I was terrified if I didn't find another food this would be it for him. Thankfully, I found Feline Natural! He is doing great, and even getting a little chubby now, so I have to limit his feedings. Could not be more happy with this food! He wasn't a fan of the lamb flavor but LOVES the beef flavors. It's definitely not cheap food, but no more hospitalizations and no more meds so I feel like that makes it worth the price.
