Questions & Answers

9 Customer Questions

I just received my first bag for the abandoned kitten I’ve taken on. How long does it last before it needs to be dumped and more added?

Answer by ChewySep 04, 2021
This litter is made from 100% Pine. These pellets act like tiny sponges that absorb urine and break apart into sawdust. It is recommended to scoop the solid waste daily, and gently shake the box so the good pellets float to the top and the sawdust drops to the bottom. Leave the sawdust in the box as it will still work to absorb moisture and odor. When the box is about 90% sawdust it is time to dispose of it and start with new litter.

Is this new formula compostable ?

Answer by ChewyOct 01, 2021
Do not flush or put in drains. Put used litter into the trash.

is this still non- clumping?

Answer by ChewyJul 16, 2021
This is a non-clumping litter.

When solid waste is removed and only sawdust remains, can this sawdust be dumped in garden or lawn?

Answer by ChewyMay 05, 2022
It is advised to discard litter in waste bin.

I have 2 cats. Pine is what was recommended by a cat expert. I had to figure out how to use and clean out the stool as I was use to using clay litter. The pine in the box turns into sawdust as it gets wet. I shake the pan and the stool floats to the top. I was using a scooper but find that a small bag like a dog poop bag works well to pick out the poop. Then I just stir up the pine pellets to fluff it up. About every 4-5 days I use a sieve to remove the saw dust. FINALLY, I discovered a kitty litter pan that is designed for Pine litter. It consists of 2 black pans with solid bottoms and a white 3rd pan designed with holes in the bottom to shake out the saw dust. Stack the 3 pans together with the white sieve pan in the middle. Take the top pan with the dirty sawdust and dump it to the white sieve pan and shake into the bottom pan. It can be a little messy if you’re not careful. Trash the dirty sawdust and refill the top litter pans. I keep a pan in 3 rooms and I really don’t notice an ammonia order. Try Pine. I find it so much better than clay.

Problems peeing on pine pellets

Emily didn't like standing on the pellets or scratching them to cover her deposits. She scratched at them such that she got the pine stuff all over the floor.

Emily didn't like standing on the pellets or scratching them to cover her deposits. She scratched at them such that she got the pine stuff all over the floor. The vet said feline Pine has been implicated in feline UTIs because cats don't like its texture and avoid it

minimal tracking

I absolutely love this litter for my cat! I hated that clay litter tracked everywhere but this litter stays very contained in that area.

My two cats like it a lot more than any other litter that I tried. It is a lot better in odor control unless the girls don’t bother to cover their poop, which doesn’t happen often. Low dust makes it a lot better for all of us. The broken down pieces can be a bit messy when it gets tracked outside of the litter box but it is easy to sweep up. Using Feline Pine has made my life easier for living alone in a very small home.

Hides odors well

Really helps control the smell of urine. People coming into my home say they can’t really smell the litter boxes.

Fresh outdoors scent

Having Baby, Figaro & Meatball , I wanted to try out the new litter, to see how that worked, so far so good. I just started using it this week.
