After I lift it out and sift it, how is it put back into the box so the litter is in it once again?
Answer by ChewyMar 03, 2019
To clean, pour the contents of the top dirty litter pan into the empty pan with the sifter tray on top. Then lift the sift tray out of the second litter pan to sift clumps out of litter. Discard clumps from the sifter tray in a trash receptacle. Place the empty sifter tray into the empty litter pan. Place litter pan with now cleaned litter on top. Add more clean litter as needed.

what is the size of the holes?
Answer by ChewyMar 18, 2019
The holes in the sifter measures approximately 10 millimeters long by 4 millimeters wide.

Where is this made?
Answer by ChewyFeb 14, 2021

Can crystal litter be used in this?
Answer by ChewyFeb 06, 2019
This litter pan can be used with any litter small enough to fall through it's sifting holes. Most crystal litter will fall through the sifting holes.

WORST! Spreads pee soaked litter into new pan. MESSY, DIRTY, DISASTER.

I'm very let down that this product is even for sale on Chewy. It does not work with the Pine Litter is is made for?? When the litter is soiled, it disintegrates and pee soaked dust falls to the bottom. When you pour (as instructed) through the sifter, the smallest dirty particles are first to fall into the "fresh" new pan. The original pan is a disaster of flakes, urine and dust. Scooping the box is a 30 minute chore now... what a total failure! One star is too generous. Chewy, please carry other Pine litter box options that work. Doesn't work well with Litter Genie or the nice litter mats.

Not worth it. Does not work

We purchased this system for our 2 cats and 4 kittens. We tried different kinds of cat litter and everything trying to figure out if we were doing something wrong. We even spent the money on the REALLY expensive clumping arm and hammer cat litter thinking maybe the pan required their litter. However, that was unsuccessful as well. We split the pans up threw out the sifter and just have 2 individual regular boxes now.

OUTSTANDING product

My husband is in charge of the litter box. We have two male cats, and they go through litter like crazy. I had been suggesting trying this sifting litter pan and was met with much resistance. I ordered it anyway and guess what he loves it! We use pine pellet cat litter and so much was going to waste with the continual cleaning of the box. Now, only the sawdust is thrown away.

Solid option for pine pellets

I bought this sifting litter pan to use with pine pellets, and it works pretty well for that application. Some small broken pellet bits do slip down through the holes, but for the most part the sawdust settles to the bottom and the whole pellets stay on top. However I switched to walnut pellets and they are unfortunately too small to use with this pan, they just pass through the holes. One con is the weird off-gassing smell these pans have. Not only is it unpleasant but I feel like it actually might make the urine smell worse.

Quicker than Scooping

First off why give this pan a bad review if it doesn't work for pine pellets? I've had cats my whole life. I HATE scooping the litter box. I've had this for over a year and I have zero complaints. It took a little practice to sift with out scattering litter. I blame that on user error and not the box. Comments about clumps left in the bottom of the box has nothing to do with the operation of this litter box. If your cat digs aggressively before peeing then clumps will form at the bottom of the litter box. Could you scoop and get the same results as sifting? Probably. However, if you hate to scoop and rather sift then the box will do the job.

Pine Litter Review

Review is only based on my 2 week experience with using this box for FelinePine litter. Pros: - Easy cleaning - Affordable Cons: - No space between bin and sifter to allow the used pine pellets to fall down. I tried to macgyver it by hot gluing 8 dice to the bottom of the sifter to create that space, but nearly all the dice came off after the 2 weeks. If you're doing it yourself, hot glue isn't the best option for this material. - Holes are too large for the FelinePine litter and quite a bit fell through. This wasn't that big of an issue, just slightly annoying. My suggestion: If you're using it with FelinePine litter, find a way to create some space between the sifter and bin. Another litter box alternative is the All Pine Litter Box, but it's not on Chewy. I also bought charcoal puppy pads to line the litter box and that was VERY useful for clean up.

Game Changer!

Don't let the bad reviews scare you off, this litter box kit + Pretty Litter = Game Changer!! One of our cats has FIC so we have to scoop his box daily (though in a multi-cat home that's the best way to do it anyways) and I recently found out about these sifter pans. I decided to try one since I have to clean 3 boxes. This is just so convenient! The silica litter falls through so easily and leaves all the solids behind, just as intended!

Arm & Hammer sifting cat litter pan

The concept of this triple layer cat litter pan is good. It didn’t work with the Arm & Hammer brand of litter. Those wet cement-like clumps I was trying to sift out, stuck to the bottom of the pan. It works better with the new (another brand) litter I purchased. Truth be told, it’s just as easy to use a litter scoop to clean the box every day.

No thank you

Well I tried and tried to get my cat to use the pine litter and he absolutely refused. So today as I was trying to shake the pine I wanted to litter box into the garbage it was just too much work for me. Not only do I have to scrub the rug that the cat litter box was on because he wouldn’t use the box he use the rug. The shaking of the litter was more work than I want to handle I prefer the scoop and the clay litter to this. I’ll be donating the box Along with the pine litter.

it's fine.

i discovered i find, doing it every day, it is more of a pain to sift the entire thing than use a little scoop to go through the box.
