Are you able to fit a plastic bag with scooped litter waste into the pail, rather than putting scooped waste directly into pail? (and still have the system with accompanying inner plastic bag operate correctly)

Can the litter genie be used for small to medium size dogs or do the make a dog genie?

Although this system was designed exclusively for litter waste, we've had positive feedback that it works well for dog waste as well.

Time saver, odor reducer, and made in the USA!

I wish I knew about this litter genie earlier! We used a diaper genie for our child, but who knew such a thing existed for cats! Easy to use, and it’s been 1 week

I wish I knew about this litter genie earlier! We used a diaper genie for our child, but who knew such a thing existed for cats! Easy to use, and it’s been 1 week in our 2-cat household, and it’s not quite full. It definitely cuts back on the stink in our basement, and saves us trips upstairs to the trash can. I may look into more eco-friendly bags, however. But at the same time, I think we’re using less plastic overall, since we’re no longer using pet waste bags for each cleaning. Another plus… the litter genie is made in the USA, and the bag refills are made in Canada!

Just ok.

I don’t like being a negative Nancy but I didn’t care for this product. To me it’s a waste of space. The first three times I used it I had to pull out the directions

I don’t like being a negative Nancy but I didn’t care for this product. To me it’s a waste of space. The first three times I used it I had to pull out the directions cause I didn’t remember if I needed to open the handle before or after I placed the litter inside, then you have to open the whole thing to remove the bag.It’s just a little complicated. I’m used to just scooping the litter into a small bathroom trash bag lined with a plastic bag- then just toss the whole bag in the trash. Plus I’m recycling the grocery store bags. I didn’t like the feeling of holding the litter in the bag at the same time I tied a knot in the bags. The litter genie wasn’t made very well either. The places where the top and bottom come together are very thin and you can see that the plastic is stressed. The “button” that latches the top and bottom together doesn’t line up with the whole.

An incredibly disapointing product. While it IS a great idea, and it definitly does lock the smell away, it is basically useless for our four cats. Now I have four litter boxes, and I am ONLY using this one for the one box that sits in the laundry room beside the kitchen, where the smell was an issue. I clean this box (and all the others) twice a day. I had hoped the Litter Genie would be perfect for this. A big improvement over my little container with a small garbage bag inside and a tight, snap on lid. Nope. The opening in the top of the Litter Genie is so small (or my cats clumps of pee are so big) that each time you try to dump something in it makes a mess. The thing you pull out to drop the poop or littler lumps down into the bottom of the pail opens such a small aperture that the stuff often doesn't go down. You have to shake the pail every time to get stuff into the chamber at the bottom. Then there is the fact that the pail/bag is full within two days max. At that rate we're gonna go through an awful lot of refills and they're expensive. To top it off, we have been using it less than two weeks and the top has broken off twice (and it's not easy to get back on)...besides the fact that it won't stay open while you clean out the box, it drops back down between each scoop, which is maddening. Bottom line: Yes, it does keep the smell from escaping each time you clean the littler box and if you only have one cat, who is very dainty about how much they pee and poop, then this totally might be the product for you. But if you have multiple cats, and especially ones who like to drink a lot and flood the litter box, then NO, this is not going to be the answer you're looking for.

Absolutely Worth It

I bought my first Litter Genie in 2018 and haven’t used anything else since. I now own 5 of them and keep one next to every litter box throughout the house. I think

I bought my first Litter Genie in 2018 and haven’t used anything else since. I now own 5 of them and keep one next to every litter box throughout the house. I think it’s great at controlling odor, but it does smell bad when you pull the handle to drop the waste down into the bag. I feel like that should be expected, and once you lock it back in place, the odor goes away. This has saved me from having to use disposable poo bags or grocery bags and then throwing those in my outdoor trash, which inevitably causes a bad odor. The Litter Genie is convenient, easy to use, and locks away odors that would otherwise cause my house to smell bad. I have had several people tell me that my house smells good and you wouldn’t know I had 5 cats. I honestly believe that’s due to keeping their litter boxes scooped and clean, and due to using Litter Genies. If I had to critic one thing, it would be something that is specific to just me. I wish the opening was slightly larger. I do not use the plastic scoop that comes with it, I use a metal scoop which is larger. Sometimes I end up getting litter on the ground when dumping the waste in due to the metal scooper being larger than the plastic one it comes with.

I've had one of these for several years and really appreciate how it minimizes and contains litter box odor as long as one stays on top of scooping. The cats and I were away for the summer and I left our old unit with a friend as I had so much to put in the car, but I ordered a new one from Chewy so we'd have one when I got home. The first one was slightly defective and wouldn't close fully but Chewy immediately sent me a replacement and I donated the one that wasn't quite perfect to a local cat rescue. Thank you! I recommend this system to everyone.

This litter box pail is a great product for pwople who clean their cat's litterbox daily. I am not one of those people. I have a single cat and a single litter box

This litter box pail is a great product for pwople who clean their cat's litterbox daily. I am not one of those people. I have a single cat and a single litter box that I clean once a week. My cat likes to pee in one corner of the box which usually creates larger clumps. These larger clumps do not fit easily into the opening of the litter genie and makes a mess.

The scoop holder was broken upon arrival. I would recommend the scoop either it is pretty flumsy. As for the Litter Genie itself, its really good and makes cleaner

We live on the top floor of our apartments and the Litter Genie allows us to not have to run up and down the stairs as often.

We just had our first grandchild and when we were at my son’s house they were using a diaper genie and as we were using it through the week we thought what a great idea to keep something like this in our garage inbetween garbage pickup to control the smell of scooping litter for three cats - we absolutely love it and definitely recommend it for anyone we have no smell at all in the garage best investment you will ever make especially if you scoop as often as I do I absolutely hate a dirty litter box and the Odor associated with it

I love the litter genie and have no idea why I didn’t contemplate ordering it before! I bought the new Plus genie, and do wish it held more soiled litter. It seems

I love the litter genie and have no idea why I didn’t contemplate ordering it before! I bought the new Plus genie, and do wish it held more soiled litter. It seems to get full quickly with only two cats. However, if it did hold more, the bags would be very heavy. I also would’ve liked the initial order to have come with more refills. Also, the scoop is not at all sturdy, and that’s not good if using it with the Litter Genie Litter Box. The soiled litter really sticks to the bottom of the box, and the flimsy scoop doesn’t work when scraping the soiled litter off of the bottom. I’m glad I kept my old, sturdy scoop. All in all, I would recommend the Litter Genie. I think a Litter Genie should be invented with two disposal cans back to back.

The litter genie really makes cleaning the litter boxes less of a hassle. We have three cats and two jumbo sized litter boxes in the house so they get scooped at least once a day. I often run out of grocery bags that I keep for scooping the litter box and then have to come up with another plan. I also used to throw the dirty bags in the garage garbage can because I don’t like my house to smell like I have cats. This litter genie is a good solution. I can’t smell any waste I. The room where it’s housed. It makes it a lot more convenient to just snip the used bag and throw it away every few days instead of twice a day!
