Yes, no, maybe?
By Charlene on Mar 3, 2021
The first time my three cats tried this they loved it. So I bought a whole case and then they all decided "no, that's not what we're into right now". Luckily there is a rescue nearby that I can donate to.

Best Food for a Sensitive Stomach
By Spidersmom on Dec 12, 2020
We were feeding our cat a different brand of food for years. During that whole time, our cat was throwing up too much. I thought that it was just the way it was gonna be because we were using the "sensitive stomach" formula of this food. Then one day I was talking to a friend that had a cat with food allergies. She said that she put her cat on First Mate food because it is a limited ingredient food and her cat was doing much better. So I decided to try if and not only does our cat love it but he rarely throws up since we have switched to this food. Also, our cat seems more healthy over all.

Great Food and Cats Love it
By Queenie on Nov 1, 2020
Granted, my kittens haven't really been picky with anything I've tried. But this is the first wet food I introduced them to and they both love it. I feel good as an owner because the ingredients are great, and they both have super soft fur. I mostly feed them wellness core kitten dry kibble, which is important because kittens need specific extra vitamins and such, but this is a great wet food to give them variety and help make sure they drink enough water. Doesn't have a crazy strong smell, just smells like salmon, which is also nice as it doesn't stink up the cats or my apartment. I tried a different wet salmon food that was slightly cheaper but definitely stinkier...so going back to firstmate Granted, my kittens haven't really been picky with anything I've tried. Bad Experience
By Doglove on Nov 2, 2020
Fed my dog Pacific salmon wet dog food from this company. Within 30 to 40 minutes he was vomiting. Ended up in emergency, had to spend the night. I let the company know. Said they were sorry checked to see if there were other complaints and said there were none. Did not take situation seriously. Chewy reimbursed me for the case of dog food. Would not recommend

2 of my cats and 1 stray would not eat this food. I tried for a week in order to make a good effort.

Quality single ingredient nutrition
By kenscats on Feb 8, 2020
We have one cat that is 'digestively challenged' - pancreatitis, bouts with diabetes, etc. Finding food he will eat that won't make him sick is a challenge. FirstMate wet food was a G*dsend when we found it -- first the Tuna which he devoured for a year, and now the Salmon since he tired of that. Their dog and cat formulas are the same (other than the picture on the label). Good quality nutrition and more economical in the larger cans. A

I bought this as a treat for my cats. They love it. All I could hear was licking and lapping and lip smacking until every morsel was finished

My cats and foster cats adore this
By Kim27 on Apr 12, 2019
Before purchasing FirstMate, I read many reviews. A few of them said that their cats did not like it. Some cats do not like salmon. I have more than one cat, plus several cats in my home as fosters for a rescue group. ALL of the cats in my home (who eat canned food) were thrilled with this food. Even my cat who usually is picky about salmon ate most of it (she leaves the more solid pieces). I do not know if this love affair with the food will continue, but it has happened every time I have fed this food since buying it (I do rotate canned food in the morning to avoid cats getting used to a specific kind). It is certainly worth trying it. Plus, it is made from ingredients it pleases me to support Before purchasing FirstMate, I read many reviews. A few of them said that their cats did not like it. Great ingredients!!!
By kittyinthecity on Mar 11, 2019
This is a single source protein product (wild caught Pacific salmon) that has great ingredients! It's also grain free. It's really challenging to find a single source protein wet cat food and I'm glad this product is available. It doesn't smell like old fish (like a lot of other fish based wet foods), is more like a pate, and comes with a little extra moisture in the can (which is great b/c cats needs more moisture in their foods). It's also perfect for a cat who might have an allergy to other proteins. With all that being said, only 1 of our 7 cats will eat it and she only eats a little bit of it. We feed our 5 indoor kits and 2 semi-feral barn cats the same food and the verdict is in, This is a single source protein product (wild caught Pacific salmon) that has great ingredients! I would still recommend this food for other kitties to try, though. … more
