Would this be the same as the dried minnow cat/dog treats?

Answer by ChewyJun 23, 2025
These dried minnows are similar to the cat and dog treats. The one main difference would be that most of the cat and dog minnow treats are usually freeze dried, while these are whole dried. Otherwise, it is the same nutrient and ingredient analysis.

My chickens love salmon and tuna, so I thought they’d go bananas over these dried minnow treats, but boy was I was wrong. They all came running when I shook the bag and they were all excited to enjoy a delicious treat! But when I scattered a handful on the ground-they ALL quickly inspected and immediately rejected my offering! Haha! A few girls looked right up at me and gave me the stink eye! Admittedly, I have a few picky eaters in my flock and obviously they all have different preferences-but they were ALL so suspicious-not one of my girls would even pick one up to try it-honestly, they seemed offended. Eye roll I apologized. insincerely I wish I hadn’t bought two bags-but I can confirm that they rejected treats from both bags, so maybe it’s just a bad product. I don’t know, but regardless, I do not recommend.

Trying for my cats dental health

So far so good! He really enjoys them, they are a nice treat. We'll see if they helped next time he goes to the vet! But seem like good quality.

Ooops! I bought the minnows for my cats...

The almost 8 year old eats them , but the year old won't touch them. One sniff is all they get and he leaves. I didn't see the chicken on the bag until now! Oh

Whole Minnows

I think they are a great source of healthy fat and protein but my chickens didn’t absolutely love it. They’ll only eat if I break it up in to smaller pieces. Besides

Great Value

Great value for how many minnows you get. I rip them up because of the texture of these minnows, most are freeze dried and come apart easily, these are more rubbery/chewy

Thought it was a good deal until the package arrived

These minnows come from China, just cusping the expiration date! Oh well, can't feed them to anything but the compost bin!
