Mold and Loose Seal
Loose seal. The food had mold, was moist and dense, not powdery, do not recommend. The smell was really bad too. Don't feed anything that has a bad smell.
Can mold at room temperature
The hermit crabs like this food. However, today we noticed a grey color at the bottom of the container. Mold! Contacted chewy.com by chat and they are sending a replacement. I’m not sure why fluker’s does not recommend refrigerating the food, but this time, I’m going to freeze a larger portion for future use and keep a small amount in refrigerator for current use.

Well I can’t tell if my hermit crabs like or dislike it. I hate using it though bc it has dead bugs in it. Wish I knew
Alright food
My 3 large hermit crabs were not liking their last food, so I ordered this one on a whim to get free shipping with my order. Did not read reviews/ingredients and I wish I had. No mites in my jar I think, but it did arrive unsealed. The crabs like it a lot more than the other food, but then I read the ingredients and I'd like to find a better food and supplement with fresh stuff. It's alright though if they'll eat it at least for now!
Full of mites
I was wondering why my hermit crabs have mites. Inside the jar was MILLIONS of mites! Now I can't get rid of the mites in their tank. Do not risk it. I contacted chewy.com, they were understanding. Great customer service
Check before feeding.. MITES LIVE IN THE BOTTLE
CHECK YOUR BOTTLE BEFORE FEEDING. I've been giving this to my crabbies for a while. I kept wondering why their cage was interested with mites. They ARE LIVING IN THE FOOD. I have a brand new bottle and there's millions of mites in the bottle!!!
Bugs hatched inside 2 different bottles
I purchased 2 bottles of this product, even after reading a review that someone had witnessed bugs in it. I figured it was probably a bad batch from a long time ago, so it wouldn't happen to me. I fed this product to my hermit crab mixed with other fresh foods periodically and didn't notice any issues with it. I was feeding from both bottles I had purchased because the bottle doesn't come sealed and it was hard to know which one I had used before. About 2 months after purchase I was shaking some food into the dish and noticed a couple small black bugs crawling quickly around the dish. I assumed they must have been there in the dish from somewhere else but then I remembered the review I had read about bugs and this product. When I looked back into the bottle I noticed it was full of small black bugs crawling through it!! They had not been visible, at least to the naked eye, the prior times I used the product. I immediately threw out the bottle. I checked the other bottle and it looked "clean" and so I held onto it to monitor it but I didn't use it to feed my crab. After about 2 more weeks of periodic checking, I noticed very very tiny bugs that had probably just hatched crawling around the inside cap of this product. They were almost see-thru and had I not been looking out for them so closely I definitely would not have noticed them on the cap and certainly not in this product, which has a stone-ground cornmeal-like consistency to it. There's no doubt they were all mixed through the product. I promptly threw away the bottle. I wish I had taken pictures of both incidents to share with this review as evidence. I am really hoping I did not introduce this bug to the substrate of my tank and potentially harm the health of my crab. Because I was only using this product every few days and I wash out the feed dish daily I am hoping I did not. Buyer beware - do not buy this product!!
Mites! Do not Recommend
I bought this a while ago but never opened it - finally opened it up at the beginning of the month. The jar had no seal and there were mites in it! I didn't even feed this to my hermit crabs but now there are mites in the tank!!! I have never had any problems with mites before I bought this. I have a huge ordeal on my hands now trying to get rid of the bugs. Very disappointed, would not recommend this product.
Used as Dubia chow
I don't have a hermit crab but the price advertised was just too good to pass up. I used it for my dubia roaches that absolutely loved it! They prefer this to cricket chow.
Don't feed! Bad for them
My crabs didn't like it thankfully. I found out later any commercially produced food that has additives is bad for them...sometimes just not what they need, sometimes can harm them. Research and feed from your kitchen! Hermit Crab Owners on Facebook has a lot of great information. HCO
