Is this harness good for a dog that suddenly pulls.

This harness is not designed for pulling, though it includes a handle for control.

Does this have to be pulled over the dog's head and step in? Or does it have buckles for around the neck and legs so the dog doesn't need to move to get it on and off?

This harness is not a step in. To put it on, simply pull it over your pet's head and clip the buckles on the sides.

Measurements

For a correct fit, it is necessary to measure your dog's girth and neck in inches, and compare to the size chart. To measure the neck girth, measure around your pet's neck leaving room for two fingers and to measure chest girth, measure your pet's chest around the widest part. If your pet falls somewhere between two sizes, we advise ordering the larger of the two. For the complete size chart, please refer to the photo below or click the “Size” tab, next to the “Instructions” tab, just under the product photos.

Tory is a smooth collie, age 12. I rescued her 15 months ago. I thought the harness would be helpful when other dogs pass us walking and I could keep her by my side. She doesn’t walk right when I’ve tried it on her. Her legs act uncoordinated. She just wants to go home. It seems to fit her correctly, but I just went back to her old collar.

Got a size small for my 12 pound mini poodle. I adjust it to the smallest setting and it fits comfortably, if a tiny bit loose in the neck. The faded rose color

Got a size small for my 12 pound mini poodle. I adjust it to the smallest setting and it fits comfortably, if a tiny bit loose in the neck. The faded rose color is gorgeous. The d ring is positioned much further back than other harnesses I have used, which really makes a difference in terms of tangling. However, it also means I can't connect the harness to the leash when she wears a jacket. I wish there was a second ring higher up for that.

Originally purchased this for my senior Lab because she falls down a lot and the vet recommended a harness with a handle will help her. So far, she refuses to walk with it on! However, we tried it with our other dog, who we have been working hard on leash etiquette with her, and this seems to help immensely with her not pulling as much. So it all worked out great. For the price, especially. It's held up after a few months of use and is easy to adjust between a 52 lb lab and a 66 lb lab.

I also don't like that the leash attachment is in the back as it won't go with most seaters where the loop hole is toward the front. Won't buy this brand again.
