What is the wire strength?

How do you refold the crate?

Answer by ChewyDec 30, 2025
To refold the crate, follow the following steps: 1. Remove any accessories (bed/mat, divider panel, food bowls, etc.). 2. Unlatch the side panels while holding the top, and push the side panels to the center. 3. Put down the top panel toward the base of the crate. 4. Fold the two pieces like a book so all panels are stacked on each other. 5. With all sides down flat so the crate is in a compact, flat position, connect the locks. 6. Use the carry handle(s) to transport or store the crate when folded.

What is the gauge of the wire in the heavy duty crate? (And why is this not mentioned in the advertising? This is a critical specification.)

Answer by ChewyMar 18, 2022
The 22 inch crate has a 9-11 wire gauge. The 24 and 30 inch crates have a 8-11 wire gauge. The 36 inch crate has a 7-11 wire gauge. The 42 and 48 inch crates have a 7-9 wire gauge.

Does the divider come with every crate?

Answer by ChewyOct 03, 2018
Every crate includes a removable divider panel and a durable plastic pan.

The kennel itself is great! It’s pretty solid, at least for my 13 lb. cavapoo. She is tall and long, so the size fit her perfectly. The only issue I have is the instructions on how to open up or assemble the kennel, because it is a collapsible kennel, are in the inside on the bottom of the floor/tray of the kennel, so the only way to get to the instructions on how to open up an assemble the crate is to actually open up and assemble the crate. Basically the instructions are useless because by the time you’re able to get to them, you’ve already put the kennel together! The factory should just put them inside the box not inside the actual kennel.

I purchased this crate after comparing it to several other brands. The *heavy duty* description is what sold me. But I do not feel that it is really any different than other brands normal crates. I paid $20+ extra for the better quality option and am just disappointed. The tray also is a bit too small for the crate and it slides around. This was created auite the game for my puppy. Unfortunately, I had to set it up, because I needed it asap. So we are stuck with it.

Plenty of bent bars and the crate tray doesn't hold still even if you use the locking mechanism built-in. My dog can push the gate door to the point where her snout can get snipped in the space she made from pushing. Try looking for something more sturdy.

Great crate, except for the door locks

There is a sliding bar that closes the doors to this crate. Or I should say, it is meant to close the door. The bar just isn't long enough. It has a curved part on the end which is designed to help it stay closed. Perhaps so, but it also makes it tricky to open and close. If, by chance, one of the Frisco engineers is reading this, please make the bar and handle longer. And if you really want to be a hero, paint the lock a different color to make it stand out and therefore easier on us to grab in low light. Despite these drawbacks, we will be keepping this crate. It is the perfect size for our needs.

Ordered this for my new puppy who is a larger breed. I have to say that heavy duty is not an accurate description. It is barely medium duty crate. I miss the days where a crate was actually steel that didn’t bend. Makes me wish I had held onto my old one. May not have been shiny and new but was most certainly much more well made.

So I was really excited to get this for my new girl. The reviews were great, so I was pumped. I just received it and set it up and I’m extremely disappointed. It was not nearly as sturdy as I thought it would be considering it is “heavy duty”. I’m afraid my medium size girl would be able to get out because the doors are also not flush with the rest of the crate when closed and locked, almost like they’re permanently bent. We keep her aware from our two small girls because she’s a rescue and we don’t know how she’ll interact while we’re gone and I just don’t know if I can trust this.

First crate we ordered, front door was a little loose. Chewy customer service sent a second one to us that was more deformed than the first one. Wires already bent out of place and the hooks that lock pieces in place were bent. The price screams quality, but unfortunately that is not the case
