Turning water yellow
As other reviewers have mentioned, there's something wrong with these filters lately. They used to work like a charm. Now, for some reason, they turn the water a putrid yellow color within 30 minutes. These filters did not have this problem before May 2023 or so.
Not same as before
I love our Frisco fountain, but the last package of filters are not as they were before. I always soak them for a few minutes, as directed by instructions say. New filters turn water orange yellow. Defeats the purpose. Very VERY disapointed.
Defective filters
Be careful, the recent manufacturing of these filters are faulty. When left in the water for two minutes prior to placing them in the fountain they produce an orange color and a pungent mental smell. No this isn’t from my water, I’ve tested these in various types of water from fountain, bottle to filtered. These are the only filters available for the Frisco fountains so I will have to look for a whole new fountain. Don’t give these to your kitties, wouldn’t want them to get sick!
No Substitute
This popped up as a cheaper substitution for the charcoal filters I usually use for my pet fountain so I purchased them instead. They weren't the same size and couldn't use them.

Was very happy to see both included! I believe it’s 1 sponge every 2 filter changes, which makes sense since the sponge is still cleans after my first filter change. I chose to change my filter once a week since I have many cats, it may differ depending on how many cats you have but recommended I believe is every 2 weeks. Great product! Catches everything it should to keep water filtered!

Good product but misleading pricing
Product working as intended. FYI: each filter also comes with a foam pre-filter (not mentioned in description). The reason I am not giving 5 stars is the slightly misleading pricing. I purchased a count of 12 as well as a 3 count bundle of 4. Since the bundle of 4 is nearly double the price of the 12 count, I did not take note of the description and assumed I would be getting double 12, brining the total order to 36 filters. Instead, I received 1 box with 12 filters and 4 separate boxes each with 3 inside, bringing the total order to 24 filters. Part of the fault is certainly on my end for not carefully reading the description, but Chewy should take action to correct the pricing.

Not needed
Filters fit fine on the snowman water fountain. But then the pump died. My cats had this fountain for like 3 months. Total disappointment. Ordered a drinkwell elsewhere.
Change often
I have the square frisco fountain. I have 3 cats so I stretch the filter out to at least 2 weeks maybe 3 and than its gross. I use bottled water as our town suggests. Yes, the little square spongy thing comes in the box with the filters. One sponge per filter. Be aware that you will not find these filters IN any Pet store or on Amazon. They are a chewy item. Make sure you have them on hand or you may end up paying shipping through chewy without a large order. Hope this review is informative. :)
