These are great
Thought these would be too small for my large dog, but nope, these can hold enough material! Have been mixing yogurt/pumpkin, or peanut butter/banana/yogurt, with bone broth in my back pocket for the next round. They keep him occupied for a little while and definitely seem to be soothing. Will now be buying more so that I can always have some ready on rotation.
Great Product For Enrichment/Mental Stimulation
I see a lot of bad reviews saying that they do not like the item because their dog chewed them up.... last time I checked this is not a chew toy. I am a dog trainer and ANYTIME a dog chews something up, it is on us, if a dog chews anything from a shoe to a lick mat, it is on us, for not paying attention, or leaving them out too long. Most dogs need a constant job, and chewing is a way to expel that energy from not having a job. The general rule is to always supervise your animal while they have this, especially when they are new to an enrichment. I have had many dogs use the mats and they keep their shape and are ready to be used again, I will be buying another set as I have 4 personal dogs.
My beagle-mix tolerates this style of lick mat. He prefers the blue one over the gray one. For him, the pattern on the gray one is too frustrating and he gives up quickly when food pieces are stuck. I ended up ordering him a different (easier?) style elsewhere which seems to work well for him.
I have two cats & I use the lick mat with wet food as a way to slow the eating time. It is an average lick mat with an average price. Product as described. Not overly difficult to clean although I would suggest it be rinsed immediately to prevent stuck on wet food.
They will stick without suction cups!
While not mentioned in the product description the silicone is tacky enough to stick to most surfaces! This is great because it won’t slide around when placed on the floor for our younger pup and it can stick to a glass door or kitchen appliance for my senior dog who has a hard time eating at floor level and not sliding like Bambi. We started with peanut butter and froze the mats for about 20 minutes which resulted in happily occupied dogs for much longer than with a Kong and keeps the dogs in one place rather than chasing a treat filled toy all over the house and getting stuck under furniture. The only thing that would make these better would be a variation in the grid design so half had a different texture. Overall these are a big hit!
Great for occupying time
These were the first licki-mats I've tried with my dogs and they worked great! Added a few different foods, froze for ~2 hours and it kept them busy for about 45-60 minutes. Only thing that would make it better is suction cups as these mats slide around the floor a lot.
We call these our dogs' "Lickers" - not to be confused with "liquors!" Haha! Our retrievers LOVE these! We had a different kind before that had smaller spaces making it more difficult for them to lick and more difficult for us to clean the mats. These silicone licker mats are great though! The dogs love them! We froze yogurt on them. They each licked and licked for over an hour. It helps to calm them. And with the wider spacing between the geometrical shapes, the mats are much easier to clean.
Used one time
Was trying to give my dog something to do while I did some house work... used one time before they decided it was boring ... maybe better for a dog that isn't as active....
Good price, good product.
Distracts my cat and keeps him eating his wet food for over 10 minutes. Even somewhat works for dry kibble, as long as it's small. It won't be as effective as it is with wet food, but it does make him have to get all the pieces of kibble out of the grooves and slows down his eating somewhat.
for dogs who like to lick, these mats are a great way to let them lick their hearts out with whatever spreadable licky stuff you can put on them.
