Honestly, this is a decent puzzle, but in my opinion, it is designed poorly. Starting with the outside layer: there are five sections — two small treat slots with one sliding piece per section. The sliding piece is pretty small, so with a lucky nudge, your pup could easily access both treat slots with one go. Not a very effective puzzle. Inside layer: there are six treat slots with five sliding pieces. The sliding pieces can actually be rotated all the way around, so your pup honestly doesn’t have to do anything but keep pushing with their nose. Again, NOT an effective puzzle. My biggest gripe is also a pro feature. Pro: these sliding pieces do not slide out, so I feel extra safe leaving my pup with this puzzle for an extended period of time. Con: the sliding pieces do not come out no matter what, so it is impossible to fully clean every piece, which is pretty gross when you know that your pup has slobbered all over it, and you can’t actually scrub all of it off for the next use. I can’t say I recommend this particular product, but it’s not a bad product by any means — just designed poorly in my opinion.
My dogs are spoiled rotten…the reason for the title. When I filled the toy with plan kibble, they didn’t even come to investigate the new toy. Once I filled it with their favorite treats, Charlie(my lab), he almost flipped it over trying to get the treats out. My suggestion it make sure to use a treat that will spur their curiosity or greed to interact with it.
In an effort to increase the enrichment in my dog's life, I bought this puzzle toy to use both as a puzzle feeder and a "sniff search" toy. Because I'd never used a puzzle feeder with my dog I wanted to start with one that wasn't too advanced. Apparently my dog is smarter than I knew because this one is a little too easy for him. I have very slightly more success hiding one treat and making him sniff it out, but again - he figures it out REALLY quickly. So it's a good puzzle toy, but if your dog is a smarty-pants then get a more advanced one.
We have a six-year-old golden doodle who is very bright and loves to play with toys. She had a little bit of a hard time with this toy. She did eventually get it, and was able to open the flaps and get to her treat, but with the material being a hard plastic, it made a lot of noise on my floor and I probably wouldn’t pull it out very often for her to play with. Although I do think some dogs would actually love this and I could keep them entertained for a really long time.
This is a fun and simple puzzle toy to help keep your dog stimulated and entertained. You can put treats in all of the compartments or make things a bit more challenging by only putting treats in a few of them. My yorkie found this puzzle toy to be very simple to play with once we practiced what to do a couple of times. Now when he sees the puzzle come out, he wags his tail and gets excited to play because he knows that it also involves some treats. If you have young children, this also helps them get involved with play time for the dog, as they can help hide the treats for their dog to find. Overall, this is a fun puzzle toy for the dog and the whole family to enjoy!
My dachshund is very food motivated! I was very eager to try out the Frisco Two Tier Interactive Puzzle Dog Toy. I love how no assembly is needed for this item. You just take it out of the box and undo the bubble wrap. Preparing it for your dog is effortless. I grabbed my dog’s bag of treats and broke off little pieces that would fit inside each cavity. My dachshund was super into this puzzle, but my pibble not so much. My dachshund picked it up in no time. He has devoured all the treats in 2 minutes or less. I think it was a little too easy for him once he got the hang of it. I’ve never given my dogs an interactive treat puzzle before, it was fun! I’m just concerned the longer I use the puzzle with my dog, the less effective it will be.
Our older beagle absolutely loves this puzzle. Because she is on the older side- she doesn’t get out much for walks. Our vet advised that at least if we were stimulating her cognitive abilities that would be a good thing because she wasn’t getting as much exercise as she used to. This helps her use her brain muscles!
The Frisco Two Tier Interactive Puzzle provides good stimulation for a food motivated pup. Easy enough to not be too frustrating and interesting enough to engage our pup. I would recommend for young dogs.
I gave this to my precious boy Roo Roo (short for Rufus) for an early Birthday present.I showed him only one time how to do it and he caught on real quick. He is such a smarty pants. He loves his new toy and finding his treats inside. Pros:Helps to break up boredom when left alone while mommy or daddy shops. It is made very well and very easy to clean. The price is so reasonable. Cons: None
I was pleasantly surprised that my dog took an interest in this puzzle! Since my dog has gotten older I often wonder if she’s getting enough mental stimulation since she’s not able to play as much as she use to. This interactive puzzle has managed to keep her interest and who wouldn’t love finding a treat after completing a puzzle. I like to leave it for her when I’m out of the house to keep her from being bored and so far it’s a hit!
