My 9 mo. old golden retriever is TALL. He was getting a sore on his muzzle from bumping his nose and head into the top of his 42 inch crate constantly when he barked. The 48 inch crate is only 2 inches taller, so I opted for this insanely huge crate, which makes my golden look hilariously small! Putting it together truly isn't THAT bad if you watch the video instead of read the directions. The printed directions were confusing but the video helped a LOT. I'm a single mom and I put it together with the help of my 11 year old daughter in about 30 minutes, give or take. I did have the common issue of one of the wires being bent on the end of the top panel of the crate. Still, I was able to fit the rods in just fine. The only thing I can find wrong with the crate is that the corner rods don't go all the way down through the bottom panel loop. Even if it weren't bent, it'd still have this issue. I feel like this makes the crate a little wobbly, and I feel like the stabilizing rods should lock into the bottom in some way. Regardless, it's sturdy enough to hold my golden even when he's excited and jumps on the door when I get home. Now I might be a bit worried about the sturdiness if I had a Dane or another giant and much stronger breed (which this crate was designed to hold). That said, it solved my golden's headroom issue just fine. Just prepare yourself-- this thing is HUGE. It's like a small apartment for my golden!
I made the mistake of not reading reviews prior to my purchase, package came in great shape and was exactly what I ordered so not complaints there, however, the picture I added is for size reference! These dogs would never all be in there together but for the picture it’s my 120 pound Akita, 100 pound lab mix, 70 pound lab mix, and my 80 pound grate Dane! Great quality crate but definitely too big for my need! This was originally purchased just for my 6 month old Grate Dane!
This is our 4th one of these. We have NOT had some of the issues mentioned where the crate was completely damaged, BUT, you will need to do some bending and banging here and there to get things to fit together. The metal is pretty strong. Allow at least 2 hours to set these crates up. Don't assume it will pop right out of the box, huge, by the way, and be ready for the pet.
I was somehow able to manage putting this massive thing together by myself. It took a very long time, although the booklet instructions weren't very clear and difficult to understand the video did wonders for me!! It is much taller than I expected it to be, just be warned you need a LOT of space to put it together.
Bought this crate because my German Shepherd outgrew his 48inch crate. The crate is heavier gauge wire but was bent and almost mangled upon opening. The side with the door was bent up so bad that the top wouldn’t “hook” and the crate pan was cracked. And many of the eyelets that the rods drop down through were bent and weakened. After spending about 2 hours trying to bend everything back this crate is not what I would call “heavy duty” at all. It’s rickety and has a lot of play and wobbles even though I followed the directions exactly in regards to assembly. Contacted chewy and they said they couldn’t send me a new pan because they don’t offer it separately even though they sell them on the site. So now unless I want to disassemble this thing, wait for a box. And wait for a new crate. I’m stuck with a crappy wobbly crate with a cracked pan all while being labeled as “XXL” and “heavy duty” yes this crate is the perfect size but that’s about all. Luckily my dog is not nervous or anxious but if your dog is do not buy this crate. I have always been satisfied with my Frisco branded purchases but this one definitely screwed the pooch and the owner.
When I received the crate I was very excited to finally get one big enough for my dog, but many of the prongs and metal wires were badly bent. What should have taken a person less than an hour to assemble ended up taking a few hours due to trying to bend the wiring so the panels would actually align and fit together. I was very disappointed with the quality of the crate when I received it and this is the first issue for anything I have bought off here. I would still recommend it as I believe I received a defective/mishandled item.
The crate arrived bent and the whole things alignment is off. I tried to bend it back as best I could, but still for the money spent I’d prefer it starts to get misaligned over time and use, not upon arrival.
ordered this for my 100lb BlueTick coonhound and he LOVES it. The cage is 4.5ft tall/long so there is LOTS of room. I added a picture of me in the cage for reference. Putting it together was a bit confusing and I had a hard time putting the sides together but overall it is worth the price and very durable
Poor quality! One latch was broke off, doesn't fit together like it should so it had to be zip tied together to make sure our dog couldn't push it open. The packing is poor so most of the loop ends that you have to put the connection rod thru had to be straightened before assembly. Strongly suggest buying something else.
I have a very tall irish wolfhound pup. Had to search for an extra large, extra tall crate. This one works perfectly! Just one warning, you need lots of clear space to set it up. Read the directions a couple of times and it goes together easily.
