Can you put a heated pad in this shelter?

Answer by DizeeJan 02, 2026
Yes, I put the K&H outdoor heated extreme weather kitty pad with a fleece cover inside this cat house. It uses 40 watts and keeps the pad nice and warm. The length is 18.5" and width is 12.5". A mama feral cat and her 4 kittens are using it.

Will this easily blow over in windy conditions?

Answer by DizeeJan 02, 2026
No, it won't blow over. It weighs around 40lbs. But since it is made out of wood, it would last longer if it was under a covered porch or other structure to protect it from the rain and snow.

How many cats does it hold?

Answer by ChewyAug 27, 2025
This product can hold 1 to 2 cats comfortably.

Does the roof open, come off, or have hinges in order to clean the interior?

Answer by ChewyAug 25, 2025
The roof lifts for easy cleaning. Please see the product photos for more details.

I bought this cat house because of all of the reviews saying things like "I'm 80 years old and this was the easiest thing to put together I've ever done!" Well, I must not be a great builder because I struggled. You really need two people to put this together. Some of the order of instructions didn't make a lot of sense either. That said, once it was put together, it was very sturdy and I think will be a great place for the neighborhood cats to warm up.

This outdoor cat house is solid, sturdy & well made. The insulation is in the wood panels. It is large enough for two or three (smaller) cats. I am a 67 year old woman & was able to assemble this in 1-1/2 hours by myself with a hand screwdriver. It would take less time with 2 people or with an electric screwdriver/drill. The hardest part was attaching the roof hinges, which make it so easy to access and clean out the interior. Carried it into my yard; I hope the stray cat uses it as the temps get colder. I removed the divider but added lots of warm bedding inside.

well packaged , box was damaged but product was not damaged. easy to put together - had a handyman put it together with a power tool. the inside divider is a bit small for a large cat so I did modify that to be bigger. put straw down and heating pad in -- now waiting for the outside stray aka BABY to use it..

This was a great buy. I ended up Buying a second one. I needed help assembling the first one, but the second one I did all by myself with an electric drill. I placed a heated bed inside and my feral cats seem to be enjoying it.

This cat house went together well. I'm a 73 yr old woman and I put it together by myself. The hardest part was the small roof over the door, which didn't have holes like the rest of the house. The divider turned out to be useless. It isn't made right to do what is shown in the picture. But I have just one cat using it so that is not a big deal. My cat didn't like the plastic strips for the big door, so I took them off, and that allows more cold air in. I wonder why the mfr didn't make the big door to be like the small door, which is a swinging door with a clear pane. I might have someone make something like that. Otherwise this is a warm, well built house for my outdoor cat. It is on my porch, so I connected a pet heating pad by K & H to go on the floor along with a small cat bed. Mitzi loves her new house and I no longer worry about her being cold.

I insulated the house to ensure that any of my feral kitties can sleep indoors now that temperatures are quickly dropping to freezing numbers. I placed a tarp on top to ensure the structure remains water-free. I will see how well it does once the ice or snow moves in, and hopefully the ferals will use it. It did have a strong smell, but it had been outside for a long time, and the smell is gone. So far, no visitors yet.

We live on the Mountain tops in Northern Pennsylvania and it gets pretty darn cold and snowy with below zero temperatures and wind chills . We usually use a large plastic tub with an entrance hole drilled in the end , then place a styrofoam cooler inside of that filled with straw for our Feral porch cat. He won’t come in. We decided to also purchase this house , we will place straw in it also , it will give him another option this year. We will have to wait and see. It was very nice to put together. All parts were included and easy to read. Very sturdy and well built. I would have no qualms about recommending this to a friend.
