Worth the Price!
I have two short-haired cats who shed a decent amount. I’ve tried many rubber brushes (like the hand mitt one) because I didn’t think they’d need a metal brush (being short-haired - thought it would be too much). The thing with rubber brushes is they seem to get hair everywhere as you are brushing them. I wanted a brush that would aid in their grooming while eliminating fly-away fur. I read the reviews and decided to try this brush. When it arrived I was worried it would be too hard/rough, but as long as you are gentle while brushing there are no issues. I LOVE THIS BRUSH! Picture is from our first use. There were zero fly-away hairs and this brush grabbed so much off of their coats. Both of my cats were wanting to be brushed by it so they love it as well! If you have a very short-haired cat, I would not recommend this. I can’t say how this would be for long-haired cats, but for standard short-haired cats this brush is worth the price. There is a button you can click for fur release but I find it doesn’t work that well. I don’t mind this because I just grab the fur directly off of the brush and add it to the pile as I go along, but if you’re wanting the brush for that feature please note it’s not super functional.
Avoid the shedding mess! This little gem picks up lots of hair and holds onto it. The release switch works well. This is the best cat brush I've ever used. So easy to get their fur into the garbage without it flying all over the place or having to pull it out of a brush. It pulls off cleanly in one nice clump. I have the medium size (purple) and I think it's a perfect size for most cats. It's not cheap but it's worth every penny! My cats will be getting brushed a lot more often now.
Love my Furminator!
I bought this during shedding season and it was so satisfying to remove so much undercoat so easily - both for me and my cat! I still use it once or twice a week and it helps remove dead overcoat too. Since I started using this product, I have had way less fur all over my bed and sofa!
I was a bit reluctant to purchase this item because I wondered if my cats would find it uncomfortable, but I was wrong about that. I am so glad I bought this. Both of my cats, who are short-haired but shed a lot, are fine with being combed with the FURminator. Their daily combing really helps to keep lots of fur off my wood floor. No other brush or comb compares to the FURminator.
This is the best de-shedding tool, I have ever used! I was amazed at how much of the undercoat this brush took off, the hairball from my cat created another cat. This tool is so good, I can easily get away with using it once a month - my cat who's known for leaving a trail of fluff balls throughout the house and hacking up hair balls, no longer leaves a trace of hair! Also, I've seen many reviews of people complaining of how sharp this is, I strongly disagree with this and find it to be perfection all around.. Unless you're pressing as hard as you can on your cat then it's not going to cut them.
This thing is amazing!
I was visiting a friend recently and decided to help out by brushing her dog, a huge male golden retriever. To say he has a lot of fur is an understatement. She handed me a Furminator and told me to have fun. He loved it! Three hours later and we had a garbage can full of fur. Her little chihuahua got jealous and crawled up in my lap for his turn, too. When I got home, I ordered my own for my three short haired cats. Ten minutes for each worked great for them. Two of them like it and one is a little scared about it. This is a great tool!
Wow! My feisty kitty doesn't usually like me to groom her, but she tolerates - and sometimes, loves - the FURminator. She sheds like crazy and this tool works quickly and effectively. With even a few swipes (all she will allow sometimes) the amount of fur that is removed is remarkable. It doesn't scratch her like slickers do, and unlike regular brushes it reaches down to the shedding undercoat. I'm very happy with it!
Better than a regular brush
Our cat has short, fine, soft fur. She grooms herself a lot and has had a constant hairball problem (3 or 4 a week). We have tried brushing her with several different brushes, but none of them worked well. I purchased the Furminator and have to say it removes more hair than any of the other brushes we tried. You need to be careful not to go overboard when using it as the teeth can be rough on the skin. It's not a perfect solution as our cat doesn't tolerate being brushed with it on some parts of her body, so we can't get all of it. So unfortunately she still gets hairballs, but not quite as many.
Cats are Literally Lining Up!!
We have 4 short hair orange cats who have incredibly thick fur and it gets everywhere, plus 2 other cats! I used wire slicker brushes and a fine-toothed metal comb in the past. The slicker brush didn't really get the undercoat and they didn't have a lot of patience for it. The FURminator removes HUGE amounts of hair and undercoat! I sit on the floor and they flop down by me, with the others coming to stand in line for their turn! Cats who have never let me near them with a brush have lined up for me to use this after watching the others enjoying it so much. I do use the slicker brush to gather the loose hair off of the cats while using the FURminator. Several of ours like to be vacuumed so I also keep that handy to frequently clean up the massive amounts of hair that is coming out. I'm finally making some progress and seeing less fur sticking to the furniture, etc. >^.^<
Works about as well as a regular comb. I could sit and comb him for hours and he would still be shedding after I finished. The hair release/cleaning button on it doesn’t work. I’m not impressed, rubberized gloves have proven to work better for my cat, and they don’t cost nearly as much as I spent on this tool.
