Questions & Answers

10 Customer Questions

how much should a 20 lb dog get each day?
Answer by ChewyApr 07, 2018
Feeding recommendations are based upon the pet's weight, age and activity level. Here is the feeding chart for reference.

Does the garlic bother anyone’s dog?
Answer by ChewyFeb 06, 2020
Many people believe that garlic is harmful to dogs, and in large, concentrated doses this can be true. However, in the proportions that we use, it is highly beneficial to heart health, acts as a natural flea repellent, an antioxidant and anti-bacterial ingredient. Just like with humans, many things are healthy (and indeed necessary!) in small doses but potentially harmful in large, concentrated doses.

What is the shelf life of this dog food?
Answer by ChewyMay 04, 2020
Grandma Lucy's shelf life is 18 months and if stored in a cool dry place and sealed after use the best buy date should not be affected by opening the bag.

Is this a raw food?
Answer by ChewyDec 09, 2019
This food has been freeze-fried and is not raw.

Not what expected, waste of money

I really wish I could get my money back with this one! It was a total waste!! My dogs hate it and there is like no meat. Regret buying this.

Love the ingredients! But NEEDS MORE Chicken!

Absolutely LOVE the ingredients. However with chicken being the 1st and main ingredient of this food there is barley any chicken in the whole bag! I ordered May 6th and am already re ordering another 10lb bag the 22nd and it was supposed to make 46lbs of food adding 1-2 cups of water. Lasted 16 days which is upsetting 46lbs usually last up to 2 months with dry dog food? My fur baby seems extremely hungry after every meal of this and it makes me highly upset. Love the Quality! .. Hate the Quantity.. I am re ordering because i have yet to find such amazing ingredients and real dog food. But will be spending almost $150 a month for just this and buying canned dog food with it so my fur baby is not so hungry..

best dog food

My dogs love this stuff as soon as I place the bowl on the floor they gobble it up quick. And my dog that was overweight has lost some pounds eating this food. I will continue to feed my dogs this food from now on.

Nice ingredients list

It smells like chicken noodle soup. My dogs seem to like it but I can't say that they love it. The first night I fed them this my older dog looked at me like "and you expect me to eat this?". But since then they have gobbled it down, just maybe not as enthusiastically as I might like. Some of the freeze dried chicken chunks are large and you need to break them up by hand so that they are able to rehydrate sufficiently. You have to gauge the exact amount of water or else it will be too thick or too runny - unlike Honest Kitchen or Spot Farms where you could just wait a bit longer if it was thin and it would set up more. But is a good mix with a kibble and seems quite healthy. And no intestinal issues whatsoever.

My dog loves it.

My dog loves this food and I like it because it is not full of potatoes like some of the other freeze-dried foods.

Food Good, Info Wrong

The food is good and my dog did well on it, but I bought the bag thinking it would last 2 months per the faq showing 182 cups in a 10 lb bag and it ended up lasting 17 days. More like 50 cups. Yikes!

Best dog food!

I’ve been feeding this to my dog for years. All the ingredients are natural and it has the highest rating I’ve ever seen on dog food advisor. I’ve switched to other “high quality” dog food but this one keeps my dog the healthiest and at a healthy weight. Not to mention it smells so good I almost want to eat it myself! I highly recommend!

Good stuff, dog loves it

Nice to be able to get this stuff in a larger bag, when you have a big dog, the 3lb bags don't even last a week, and the Grandma Lucy's chicken or beef is the only thing our dog can eat because of his allergies.
