Dogo allergies
By Purefenty on Mar 13, 2021
Our Dogo Argentino is allergic to many of the binders found in regular dog food. We moved her to a 100% raw diet, but it was too much work for our busy lifestyle. Also our dog can only eat lamb and rabbit, which are not easy to come by in our metro area. A local high end pet food shop recommended using this food to supplement our girl's raw diet, and she loves it. Her coat is shiny and all of her allergy issues are resolved. The dehydrated food takes a lot of water and takes a few minutes to prepare. Don't rush it, your dog will not like it if not prepared properly. We have noticed that our dog doesn't drink much water on this diet mix. Good ingredients
By PineHiker on Jan 18, 2021 top100Contributor
I use this as a supplement to raw food. I'm not a huge fan of veggies and fruit in a dog's diet but this does help the raw food last longer, especially considering the supply lines might be affected. The Pureformance recipe does not contain a ton of unnecessary ingredients, like potatoes and grains, so I appreciate that immensely. My dogs love it ! And even the cats have tried a little (but I do not do this on a regular basis because cats are carnivores not omnivores). I will definitely purchase this brand again because the ingredients are actually identifiable before, and after, reconstituting it. Not a complete substitute for raw food, but definitely a good supplement to raw food.

Dog Won’t Eat It
By AshMac on Feb 14, 2021
My dog loves the less healthy Grandma Lucy “Artisan” line but it’s been difficult getting him to eat the “Performance” line. He’ll eat it if I mix in a significant amount of canned pumpkin, but if I serve it as it’s supposed to be served, he isn’t interested. Dog food that a dog won’t eat is essentially useless.

One Star for Us, Could Be Five Stars for You!
By Luna on Aug 27, 2020
There is something in this food that gives my dog loose stools and lots of gas. We're sticking with Grandma Lucy's Macanna line of foods (very different base ingredients), which doesn't have the problem of the Pureformance line for my girl. I just wish Chewy carried the Macanna line too. Although Pureformance doesn't work for my girl doesn't mean it'll give your dog problems. Very dog is truly unique.

Both my dogs love it
By Lori on Jan 20, 2020
So far so good, I have a pittie and a yorkiepoo and my pittie has serious allergy issues with a lot of food allergies o I have to be careful what I feed him and my little girl is 13 and very picky eater and loosing teeth. They have to eat the same food because he will lick her bowl. They both go nuts while this is soaking! We had years ago fed Grandma Lucy’s but it was the pork and it gave my allergy boy tummy issues and lamb is the only protein he can have at this point. Grandma Lucy’s is a great product made I the USA.

Archie approved !
By sephie on Sep 19, 2019
Archie, my American bulldog loves this food. We have been feeding the honest kitchen and wanted a food to rotate with THK. We are so happy we found another great food company that is as budget friendly as the honest kitchen. Archie now loves Grandma Lucy’s . We are super excited to try all the different proteins and recipes they have to offer . Oh and I especially love that there are no potatoes in grandma Lucy’s.

“Kids” love this
By AussieMom on Feb 13, 2019
This was a healthy, convenient way for us to feed our pups when we were traveling. They loved it so much, and they did so well on it, that we feed it at home now, too. Transitioning from their previous diet took about five days. After eating only this for a full week, both had improved digestion (no more gas) and, finally, no more loose stools.

THK Substitute for a Large Dog
By PickyAussie on Jun 16, 2018
We have a 5 year old GSD with a rear leg amputation that happened around 6 months old. He has a puppy personality in an arthritic body that just can't keep up with him anymore. On our last visit, our vet recommended slimming him down to the lowest end of healthy to try to take some strain off his aching joints. We have another pup that eats THK due to multiple allergies and a gulping behavior and found that it is much easier to control weight with a dehydrated food versus a kibble. We wanted to switch our GSD to THK but encountered 2 problems: it is incredibly expensive to feed a large dog the limited ingredient THK that we feed our other dog and our GSD wasn't ultra thrilled with THK when We have a 5 year old GSD with a rear leg amputation that happened around 6 months old. I bought Grandma Lucy's on the recommendation of our local pet supply store and have been pleasantly suprised. While the ingredients and processing are not quite as high quality as THK, higher quality doesn't do much good if your dog turns up their nose to smelly green paste (we have two that love THK and one that does not). Grandma Lucy's has a better texture and smell than THK. My husband thinks this particular flavor smells like beef ramen noodles. The texture is more like mashed potatoes which is a little more visually appealing than THK which looks like gook. I always add a little Ziwi Peak or Real Meat Company for texture/flavor enhancement. The dogs eat it just fine without it, I just like to keep them exposed to multiple proteins because they each have a protein allergy/sensitivity already. Most importantly, our GSD absolutely loves this food. In 5 years I have never seen him so excited for breakfast or dinner. His whole body vibrates and if you take too long (in his opinion) he starts to get vocal. Since I can't explain to him that he is on a diet or why, it makes me feel good to at least provide him with a food that he truly enjoys. … more
