About Grandma Lucy’s Pureformance Dog Food

Freeze-Dried, Solution-Based Feeding

Solution-based feeding is the focus for all Grandma Lucy’s recipes. Each nutritious freeze-dried formula is made using only wholesome, minimally processed ingredients.

Ingredients with a Purpose

It takes high-quality ingredients to produce high-quality food. That’s why Grandma Lucy’s uses only the highest quality ingredients from trusted suppliers and farms. Pureformance recipes are perfect for all breeds and life stages—feed them as a main meal, topper or as an addition to any homemade treat!

Family Values

Grandma Lucy’s is a company that cares. They care about pets, they care about nutrition, and they care about ingredients. They also care about giving, and they care about getting it all done right.

How Freeze-Drying Works

The freeze-drying process used by Grandma Lucy’s removes 92% of the water in the ingredients, leaving a food that is lightweight, compact, shelf-stable and preservative-free. Compared to other drying processes like dehydration or air drying, freeze-drying is better at retaining the characteristics of raw food. It preserves more flavor and keeps much of the food’s original texture after reconstitution.

About Grandma Lucy’s

Grandma Lucy’s began when founders Breann & Eric Shook started their quest for safe, healthy dog treats. Their 11-year old English Cocker Spaniel, Lucy, had developed food allergies that prevented her from eating most treats, and as they learned what was in pet food, they were surprised at the inferior ingredient quality. After consulting with vets and nutritionists, they started home cooking Lucy’s meals and treats, and what resulted was the basis for the healthy pet foods they make today.

Dogs love it!

I bought this to mix with my dog’s kibble. We have a four year old husky mix and a 14 year old pit mix. The husky has a sensitivity to chicken and is grain free. Both of those are hard to find in any dog food. We only give them about a half cup mixed with water and kibble once a day. The rest of the time they get just kibble. I will say I’m not fond of the smell of this, but I also don’t like any fishy smell. Yes raw fruits and veggies is the best but my girls don’t always like them that way. If you’re looking to add more fruits and veggies to your dog’s diet and have picky eaters as I do it’s worth a try.

Smells Chemically

I thought maybe it was just fishy, but it is sharper than that. My dogs ate it well for a couple of meals but grow more reluctent with each meal.

I wasn't too sure about a fish option, but I'm trying a chicken-free diet for my pitbull mix mutt who has been really struggling with itching. I only provide dehydrated

I wasn't too sure about a fish option, but I'm trying a chicken-free diet for my pitbull mix mutt who has been really struggling with itching. I only provide dehydrated or freeze-dried as a supplement to good quality kibble. Once I get the powder to water ratio right for my dogs preferences, Aunt Lucy's products works great for this purpose. This recipe was a winner and will be an option in my regular rotation.

All my dogs (x4) reacts well (health wise) to this food. Only one would seldom eat it on his own, but as i can spoon feed him, I am still feeding him this during his mornkng meals. Their poo are nicely formed and not as stinky when on this diet, and i find them having healthy coats too.

I have 3 small dogs. We’ve always had the chicken pure performance. I thot I’d try the fish as a dietary alternative. Two of my dogs love it, but one won’t touch

Found a dime in my dog’s food!!

I have an 155 pound Leonberger who is a very fussy eater. Grandma Lucy’s is one of the only foods that he eats consistently. At almost $100 per bag, and he goes through a bag a week, while the food is very expensive, I assumed it was high-quality so I sucked it up and paid the price. So imagine my horror when I fed him his breakfast and when I looked in the bowl when he was finished and saw a dime in his bowl. Somebody put a friggin dime in the pet food bag. I immediately reached out to Grandma Lucy’s and the response I got was so pathetic. It’s like they didn’t care. I then wrote to the president and never heard back. Finally after sending another email to Customer Service they called me. When I asked them why I never heard from the president they told me “she’s very busy.“ I would think that if you cared about your customers and your product, you would take a matter like this much more seriously. Silly of me for thinking that it’s horrifying for there to be coins in my dogs, pet food!!
