I did lots of research on dog foods before selecting Merrick. It had many of the ingredients that I was looking for and omitted others that I learned were not good for dogs, such as certain kinds of grains. The company's new recipes are USDA-approved which was something else I was looking for. Chewy's per usual did an outstanding job on delivery and on having just the dog food that I was looking for.
my dog buddy loves this! i mix this with dry food and it's all gone. he's gotten picky at 12 yrs old (bull terrier).
I have a black lab and she eats mostly kibble with toppers or chicken. On occasion we will give her wet food. When we gave her this she ate it, which is a good sign because I've never met a dog as particular about food as mine. I did like I could see actual food chunks in it. I received this product for free in exchange for my honest review.
I think it might be time for me to consider switching wet food brands. My 1 year old dog is the pickiest eater I’ve ever had. He refuses to eat his kibble unless there’s something a little more enticing mixed in, so I started giving him wet food with every meal to get him to eat. After trying a few different brands, we settled on Hill Science Diet, because that’s his kibble brand and he seemed to like the wet food version. It worked - for a while. He seems to have stopped liking it now. When we opened the can of Merrick’s wet food, his nose started going and he ate up his dinner pretty much as soon as I put the dish down. It’s been like that for the past four or five meals now! The can we received has run out, so I’m going to pick up a few more at the store and see if this trend continues. Fingers crossed!
It is a bit watery and sloshy before you open the can but it solidified when I put it in the fridge. It remained soft the next day which is good in my opinion since other dog foods tend to crinkle up and dry. (I did put it in a ziplock bag before refrigerating the opened can) My dog devoured this! I did have to mix in her medicine and she didn’t seem to mind. Looks like the flavor trumped the medicine and she just sucked up every last piece of food! She loved it! She is a 5 lb chihuahua and we’ve almost finished the can already! Don’t know where all that food is going but I’m glad she’s enjoying it! I received this free in exchange for my honest review.
(I received these products for free from Infuenster and brands in exchange for my honest review.) My dogs are not big canned wet food eaters but they loved this! I liked that the label was easy to read and the ingredients were healthier and didn't have a ton of fillers. We also gave some to our Blue tongue skink and he cleaned his bowl quick! We will be looking into more foods and products from Merrick in the future for our pets
When I put this out for my dog he ate it so quickly that I had to wonder if I even fed him! The beefy flavor and smell were not artificial. He seemed to enjoy it and have a reservation about adding soft /wet food to his mix that days. I did notice it made his stool softer and runnier but no stomach complaints otherwise.
I tried different wet dog food brands some higher end and lower; this style one is my go to ! I mixed this with dry kibble and she devoured it immediately! Her coat is thicker and softer than ever. If you love your dog feed them this food. Your dog will love it and you will love knowing it is healthy and safe.
At first my dog was confused as to the sogginess in his food haha, but he ended up loving it, i mixed it with his regular food and he seemed supper excited and you could tell he was truly enjoying it! I think it’s a great product for big and energetic dogs!
My dog devoured this mixed in with his regular dry dog food. As a senior dog (over 15 1/2 years old) sometimes he takes a little longer to eat his meals. However adding, Merricks backcountry grain free real beef dinner, he gladly ate it quickly. Reading the ingredients list I was happy to see that there was all natural real ingredients listed. I would recommend!
