The Limited Ingredient Diet That's More Limited
When you have a sensitive pup, finding the right food can be tricky. That's why Merrick made a limited ingredient diet with the fewest possible ingredients—less than other natural L.I.D foods on the market. Each meal is free of grains, corn, soy, dairy and eggs, plus made with a single-source animal protein. It's the nutrition you'd expect from Merrick, but with carefully selected ingredients.
8 Key Ingredients
In each bowl of Merrick Limited Ingredient Diet, your best bud will get the nutrition she needs from the most essential ingredients—eight of them, to be specific. Every recipe is made with only eight key ingredients, plus vitamins and minerals, to give your dog the optimal nutrition she deserves while avoiding common allergens.

Single Protein, Optimal Nutrition
Merrick Limited Ingredient Diet formulas keep it naturally simple with a single source of deboned animal protein—so every meal is easier to digest. Choose between savory recipes like salmon, turkey, lamb, chicken or duck. And when Merrick says lamb, they mean lamb—so you can avoid the proteins that upset your pup's tummy. It's more of what your pet needs and less of what they don’t.
Grain Free and Potato Free for Sensitive Pets
Merrick sticks to what's important and leaves out those unnecessary ingredients many dogs are sensitive to—like grains, potatoes, corn, soy, dairy and eggs. Instead, they pack their recipes with meaningful carbohydrates that support healthy digestion, plus a range of important vitamins, minerals and fatty acids needed to support the overall well-being of your best friend.

The Makings of a Meal Fit for Your Best Friend
Lentils: An excellent source of protein, zinc, iron and fiber—plus, they offer additional protein for healthy lean muscle.
Peas: Contains twice the protein of most vegetables, and is a good source of vitamins A, C and some B-complex vitamins.
Organic Alfalfa: Rich source of calcium and serves as a good source of fiber, vitamins and carotene.
Yucca Schidigera Extract: Supplies good quantities of iron, magnesium, manganese, phosphorus, selenium and silicon, and is thought to reduce stool and urine odors.
About Merrick
Merrick believes whole foods not only taste better, but are better for your pet, and handmade recipes are much better than scientific formulas. That's why Merrick's been making pet food in their own kitchen for more than 25 years. Produced in small batches, each recipe is closely monitored to ensure it delivers the perfect balance of nutrients guaranteed right on the label. Merrick makes food to be fuel, not filler, and their wide variety of protein-rich dry and canned foods and treats means your pet will enjoy every second of his meal.

WHY SO DIFFERENT
By CTMSTUDIO on Feb 13, 2021
I ordered canned Merrick Limited Ingredient Lamb food after moving my dogs to this food from the same brand & flavor cans from a big box store. The contents in the cans in the case from CHEWY were so liquid they would pour out to the can. The food purchased (same brand & flavor) from the big box store was more like pate in consistency. Is the canned CHEWY sells, seconds or bad batches. My dogs didn’t like the more watery, so I won’t be buying it from CHEWY in the future.

Great for med size older dogs!
By HaleyP1 on Jan 16, 2021
We were having weight trouble with our 11 year old dog. He just kept losing weight even after vet visits and no explanation. He has food sensitivities so he can just about only eat lamb. We changed his diet to include the Merric soft food. We stated mixing it in with his hard dog food. Now he eats the ENTIRE bowl every time. He loves it! No more weight issues!

Picky dogs love it
By Adouglas on Feb 21, 2021
We have a couple of spoiled pups who we occasionally switch up their wet food to give them something different from time to time while sticking with the same dry stuff. Both my pups went absolutely crazy over this. What more can I say.

Both Dogs refused to eat
By Miedmom on Nov 3, 2020
Trying to find a food that both my dogs will love and that is easy on their sensitive stomachs has been extremely difficult. Neither one would eat this food, even after I added a topper. I really had high hopes for this brand but this is the second flavor that both my dogs rejected.

Has peas in it!
By Peas on Sep 20, 2020
The website lists no peas in the ingredients, but after buying a whole (expensive) case of this food, it showed up with peas clearly listed in the ingredients on the side of the can. We already fed our dog one can, so I'm very disappointed that Chewy listed the incorrect ingredients.

Perfect for Dog with Allergies
By NaturalUltramix on Apr 2, 2020
I discovered Merrick Limited a few months ago. It is so hard to find dog foods that do not have Chicken or Chicken byproducts listed somewhere in the ingredients. My dog is highly allergic to all things Chicken and would scratch terribly. So many times I would think some food or treat would be ok only to find out it wasn't. So after much researching I discovered Merrick and have been feeding it to her ever since with zero problems. Plus she loves the Lamb flavor. So I highly recommend if your dog also suffers from the same problems.

Stopped feeding chicken
By Mimi on Apr 16, 2020
I stopped giving my dog chicken as Vet said she may be allergic. So while in Pet Smart I talked to a knowledgeable person on dog foods. She suggested several brands. I read ingredients and decided on Merrick Limited ingredients...Lamb. I have been feeding for over a year now...my dog is happy ..so I am too!!

Soft for older dogs
By Jule on Apr 4, 2020
The food has a pate like texture that is good for my senior dog, he has had most of his teeth removed. He was a rescue and his teeth were terrible. He hasn't had any stomach upset with this food and he loves it. The food arrived sooner than expected and was in good shape, no dents in any of the cans
