About Halo Holistic

Holistic. Whole. Humane.

When pet parents want to give their pets a holistic food that’s made with pure, natural, whole ingredients, they choose Halo. Their recipes use responsibly sourced whole meats and non-GMO vegetables, and never any meat meals, animal by-products or added growth hormones. It’s exactly what nature intended—highly digestible ingredients that are slow-cooked in small batches to create cat food with less ash, more bioavailable nutr

Responsibly Sourced Proteins

Halo Holistic recipes are responsibly sourced, so you can feel good about what you’re feeding your pet. The poultry in their meat-based recipes is sourced with a focus on animal welfare, and the fish they use is either sustainable or wild-caught.

Complete Digestive Health

Immunity starts with a healthy gut. That’s why Halo Holistic is made with prebiotics, probiotics and postbiotics for complete digestive health. Prebiotics help nourish good gut bacteria, while probiotics help digest food. Postbiotic compounds help support immune health and overall well-being.

What’s in Your Cat’s Bowl?

With Halo, you won’t see a “meat meal” hiding anywhere in the ingredients, and there’s no corn, wheat, wheat gluten, rice or artificial colors, preservatives or flavors. Here’s what you will find:

High-Quality & Responsibly Sourced

Every Halo Holistic recipe is responsibly sourced and independently certified. Why? Because certification is the best way to ensure that meat is raised in an ethical manner. These independent organizations ensure that ingredients are sourced in an ethical, sustainable and socially conscious way. The result is higher quality ingredients that contain more nutrients — and higher quality food for your pet.

Prebiotics, Probiotics & Postbiotics

Halo gives you more than just probiotics to help support digestive health. While probiotics are important, helping to digest food, absorb nutrients and maintain gut health, they work even better when paired with prebiotics and postbiotics. Prebiotics feed and nourish good gut bacteria, creating the ideal environment for digestion. Postbiotics help support immune health and overall good health. Together, these three are a digestive health powerhouse!

This food has a maximum ash content of 7%.

What’s the size of the kibble?
Answer by ChewyMay 28, 2021
The size of this kibble is approximately 1/2 centimeter, but smaller than a dime. From from time to time there will be variances in the kibble shape and it may be a little bigger. One reason is Halo does not use meat meals, which is a powder. Instead Halo only uses whole protein which is high in moisture. Also, Halo recipes do not include any added emulsifiers, which are for consistency in the shape of the kibble.

Good but pricey

My cats love this food and I am satisfied with the quality but every time I buy it seems the price has gone up. I want to feed them quality food but Halo is pricing itself out of my budget.

As always he was slow to try new things but those these treats. He will bat it like a toy before devouring.

Halo Holistic Chicken & ChickenLiver Adult Dry

Great product. The claim on the bag says it all. "The proof is in the poop." Switched due to a vet recommendation to put him on Science Diet but his stool was knarly and dry. Back to this food... perfect poop. I think the switch was premature given his one time urinary track infection, not crystals. Don't ignore urinary issues and don't let my words influence you if your pet is not symptom free.

My cat likes it!

And it doesn't upset her stomach! She's the pickiest eater, and she loved it the first time I fed it yo her. She's less thrilled with it now, but still likes it.

Picky Eater Approved

One of my kitties is very picky. It is hard to get him to eat healthy food, but thankfully he loves this kibble.

Cats Love it and eat it all up!

Bought this because I was so disappointed my previous food brand added chicken meal!! Have a young and active 13 month and sweet, old 12 year old who still thinks he's young, cat with sensitive stomach. They absolutely devour it all up!! Feed both Halo Pate and Halo Dry Holistic Chicken and Chicken Liver and it is always eaten up! Great nutritious products and helps with the stomach upset, much decreased. And the poopy is much less odorous!

My Annie loves it!

My sweet Annie never seemed thrilled about any kibble I offered her. After doing some research I knew I wanted something for her with controlled minerals (ash), high quality protein, and I didn’t want grain free but something that was at least free of corn. Halo is PERFECT! Oatmeal and barley are actually closer to the grains cats would naturally consume in the vicera of prey animals like mice and birds. It’s been 2 weeks and I already see a huge difference in Annie- not only in her coat but her energy levels are like a kitten again! And she’s an older lady at 9!

Excellent food

My kitties have a choice between three different dry foods at 3 different feeding stations in my house. I tried out this high quality food and it was a keeper!

Resolved IBD in my cat

I don't know which flavor some cats won't eat, according to other reviewers, because all of my sanctuary cats eat the Chicken and Liver without hesitation. One of the sanctuary cats has IBD and other autoimmune problems. His bowels were loose and stinky with a touch of blood. I needed to try one protein at a time to see if that would help. I first tried Halo Chicken and Liver, and within 24 hours, his bowels 100% resolved. I have yet to figure out what to do for his skin allergies, though steroids are my temporary solution. Keep in mind that when you feed grain free, you are removing the fiber. I sprinkle Vetasyl on the Halo to replace that. I also sprinkle Fortiflora to assure their probiotics are in order. I know that Fortiflora tastes yummy, and it makes many foods tasty, but even after they've licked all of it off, they continue to eat the Halo until it is gone. I noted a lot of small particles (dust) as well, so I run all the kibble through a classifier to remove that. Interestingly, if I put all the collected dust in a bowl, one of my cats eats it! No waste! (Hint: Put it where he's not supposed to be. I put mine on the prep table in the sanctuary, where he knows he's not supposed to go.) I believe the new recipe largely resolves the dust issue. I do note variability in size and color, but the cats don't seem to care.

Recipe change?

Some other folks have pointed out a change in the recipe. My cat recently began vomitting, gas and diarreha after being on this food for a year around the time I noticed a change in the food. I used to recommend this food, but I can't anymore.
