Pets with sensitive stomachs may need to transition a little more slowly to avoid any digestive upset. If you introduce the new food too quickly and your cat or dog experiences some digestive upset, just back up to the previous transition amount where your pet wasn’t having any trouble and feed that amount for a few more days before continuing with the transition. Once your pet is eating all Halo food, if you switch between Halo recipes, consider a 2- or 3-day transition to minimize stomach upset.

Healthful Ingredients for Wholesome Nutrition
Garden of Vegan delivers the complete and balanced nutrition that every dog needs. Each meat-less recipe, from wet food to kibble and treats, is made with non-GMO fruits and vegetables, chickpeas, healthy oils, plus added vitamins and minerals to support your pet's overall well-being. Garden of Vegan offers dogs an alternative to a meat-based diet that's just as nutritious as it is delicious!
Great for Protein-Sensitive Pups
Some dogs have a tough time digesting meat and other ingredients like dairy, corn and wheat. That's why Halo's Garden of Vegan doesn't use any of those ingredients, but instead crafts plant-based recipes with protein from chickpeas, barley, oats and green peas. Even dogs on restricted diets and with food sensitivities can get the nutrition they need without the meat!

Can Dogs Be Vegan?
They sure can! Cats are obligate carnivores, which means they need meat to thrive, while dogs are omnivores and can consume plants and/or animals as their main source of food. That means, they can get the nutrients they need from a completely plant-based diet like Halo's vegan dog food. Plus, every Garden of Vegan recipe meets the national levels of dogs' nutrient requirements established by AAFCO.
Adopting a Vegan Lifestyle
Many pet parents choose Garden of Vegan because it provides their pup with a complete and balanced way to join their current vegan lifestyle. Others choose it because their dog is sensitive to animal protein, or because they want to integrate more plant-based foods into their diet. Whatever your reason is for choosing Halo, you can feel confident that every bite is loaded with wholesome nutrition.

I really wanted them to like it
By AmandaK on Mar 4, 2021 top1000Contributor
One of my chihuahuas needs to lose weight and the other has congestive heart failure. I thought this food would be good for both of them. One of my dogs likes the flavor of it but she doesn’t like the texture. It’s really gummy. When she tries to eat it it’s like she has peanut butter in her mouth. I have mixed it with water and that helps a little bit but not enough. She will only take a few bites and then she backs away. My other one won’t eat it at all. I really feel like it’s a healthy food but my girls vote no.

Great for dog with IBS
By Kristi on Feb 12, 2021
One dog of my dogs is on the hydrolyzed protein diet. It is apparently not very appetizing. I saw a recommendation for this wet food for dogs with those issues. I added the Halo to his hydrolyzed protein food. It has improved Buster's appetite to eat his food. It did not upset his digestive system. I really like the natural ingredients as well. I have already recommended it to a friend with senior dogs.

It’s been about a year since we switched our dogs to a vegan diet and they are THRIVING! We like to add a bit of wet food on top of the vegan dry food blend and they love it so much. This is the only brand I buy

Finally small cans of Halo
By Shelby on Jan 27, 2021
Finally you have the smaller cans. My little dog would not eat the "left overs" the next day from the large cans. I could not find the smaller cans for the last 5 months here.Thank you for finally offering them.

Something changed?
By Jsfl on Nov 18, 2020
My dogs used to like this food. It was a good option for my dog who's sensitive to chicken and beef. I alternate 3 different foods, a different one each day. I stopped buying it many months ago because my dogs wouldn't eat it. I thought I'd try it again. And, I've wasted the cans I've opened so far. The dogs won't eat it. Maybe something has changed with the recipe? My husband says the consistency of the food looks different than it used to.

My pitbull gets excited when I open the can. He is picky about his food but he loves halo. I put it on top of v-dog dry food. I only wish it were organic.

Hard chunks
By Hkennedy on Dec 1, 2020
We’ve bought this for the past few years and this past 6 months the canned food has had hard chunks in the bottom that are discolored. The chunks are so hard I am unable to cut through them with a knife.
