Since getting on a health kick for my senior large dogs, I really appreciate any foods and treats that contain as few artificial/"chemical" ingredients and fit the nutrition profile for elders. This meat roll is among the small selection that the dogs absolutely love that's not bad for them. I'm also super glad that it doesn't contain any terrible preservatives – it's a good sign that it needs refrigeration after opening – and it's also based on a protein source that they haven't developed an allergy to in their old age.

I'm not entirely sure what I was expecting when I got this. Seeing the casing and that it was a soft treat, I thought it would be something I could use to stuff puzzle treat toys. When I unwrapped it, I had to have a good laugh about how far off I was. First time I've ever had to bust out a knife to cut dog treats. The texture is like a hard meat like salami. I cut it all up into little cubes to use for training treats. My dog was eating them and maybe was thrown off from having lamb for the first time, but he didn't seem too excited about them. He still ate them none the less and waited to get more.

My two doxies go crazy for Happy Howie's!!! Their meat rolls are the epitome of the perfect treat for them. Made in the USA and flavor packed, I simply cut mine up and give them to my precious pups on top of their food, on a plate, or merely by hand as a way of telling.. no... showing them that I love them!!! I really like that there is no wheat in them, and this flavor is packed with real lamb! My first thoughts of opening it up was that its a summer sausage made just right for your furry friend!

First and foremost I like the ingredients. This flavor was made from lamb protein with no soy, no corn and no wheat. Second, it is made from US ingredients and processed in the United States. This gives me a lot more confidence that the meat was handled properly and processed properly. Third, it’s just a really handy product. These are the secret to training your dog to do things - from the practical things of learning to heel to fun little tricks. This is a soft food roll, and we have used various brands for years — always cut it in slices and then in little cubes. It was always described to me as a burst of flavor for the dog as they are complying to your command. You can also sprinkle some chopped up on top of food if they’re not eating well, or you can make a little pill pocket. It has a high percentage of protein. My dogs are pretty small, so I cut about half of the tube into slices and then cut the slices into little cubes. I can refrigerate these for about two weeks and I put in the freezer just so the meat treat doesn’t get rancid. its real food not dehydrated with preservatives. Yes, they have a strong aroma. And that’s why the dog responds to them. They are soft, but not crumbly or messy. I used to use a different brand, but they were discontinued. These are the best ones I have found that are on the market today.

It was a little small for our giant breed dog, but she was happy to gobble it up in one day. We cut it up, it was like cutting up salami, and added it to her regular food. Our dog was excited to have it before it was even unwrapped so she liked the smell. We liked that it didn't have any chicken in it as so many food items do and our dog has chicken allergies. Definitely a good treat.

My dog liked this after the first initial taste. I cut up the entire loaf into treat sized bites. Even though I was required to slice this myself, it slices cleanly

My dog liked this after the first initial taste. I cut up the entire loaf into treat sized bites. Even though I was required to slice this myself, it slices cleanly and I was able to choose the size of my treats, which is a nice feature. The treats I cut up are moist enough for the dog, AND toothless cat, but not so moist that they are hard to handle. All in all I would say this meat roll is a winner and I am going to try the other flavors.

It is slightly inconvenient for it to come in the roll that isn’t resealable when it has to go in the fridge. It’s also hard to avoid getting your hands dirty but overall it’s pretty good.

Then I graduated to using as a topper to Their meals. My only problem is how tough this product is to cut into small pieces or even to shred on food. It’s hard as a rock and not easy to use.
