I changed from beef hearts to chicken hearts because of the amount of fat in the beef hearts. I didn't want to run out so I bought the big bag :-(. I received this in April and just recently opened it for my small dog. Half of it is very dark black crumbling chunks. I really am disappointed in Stella & Chewy right now. I refuse to give the black ones to my young adult pup!!! What a waste of money again,
I love Stella and Chewy products and so does my dog. But...these did a number on his belly. I started giving these to my dog in DEC as a nightly treat. He started vomiting a 1-2 times a week on AM walks, getting sick, skipping meals and sleeping so much. I stopped giving him these in late FEB - along with all other organ meat. He seems to be thriving and back to normal. He's not sleeping all day and no more vomiting in the AM. I'm so relieved it didn't become acute pancreatitis. Dogs do love these but please be careful b/c It might be too fatty for your dog. It took me a few months and 2 vet visits to make the connection. I suggest starting off with the small size bag and start giving half or smaller pieces until you know your dog can handle this treat.
My dog with mast cell tumor cancer requires a high protein diet thus no regular biscuits. Theses are an excellent substitute and he loves them. No fillers or junk. My sole criticism is that the packaging quality is poor. It’s zip loc bag is flawed and doesn’t zip. 3 different Perser and the bags are all defective. The zip lock is only secured on one side, not both. Horrible quality control as it’s not yet corrected. What’s the use of the zip lock design if it’s improperly manufactured?
My mini golden doodle loves these chicken hearts. I cut them in bite size for her. I ordered 2 bags of these. The stores seem to always run out.
Stella & Chewy's products are good quality and the flavor of their treats and other offerings are ideal for 'picky' dogs such as mine is.
My dog loves chicken hearts!! Freeze dried is convenient. The hearts are good sized, bigger than I thought they would be. I counted at least 132 hearts in our bag. My dog might have snuck a few when I walked away. The big bag should last us a while. Though some hearts have residual fat, it is not that big of a problem. My dog has not been turned off by it, so it is probably still fresh. Maybe feed the greasier pieces first if worried about the oil spoiling??
My picky Shih Tzu actually LOVES these treats ! She sticks her nose at almost everything but these make her so happy !
My dog's go nuts over these. It's the only treat I train with
After True chews discontinued my girls favorite treat ever, we had to try new alternatives…this is the one! As soon as we say heart, she is right in front of the cupboard we keep them in. They are the right mix of soft/crunchy you look for in a treat.
My puppy loves these. But, they are a bit expensive
