About Stella & Chewy's Raw Freeze-Dried Food for Dogs

All the Benefits of Raw Nutrition

Stella & Chewy's Freeze-Dried Raw Dinner Patties offer the easiest solution for pet parents to introduce raw food to their dog's mealtime routine. If you don't have time to prepare fresh raw foods or to wait for frozen food to thaw, freeze-dried is the best answer. With Stella & Chewy's Dinner Patties, your pup will enjoy a feast of meat, organ and bones just like his wild ancestors. And to meet all of your dog's nutritional needs, they're formulated with added vitamins and minerals, probiotics and antioxidants.

The Prey Model Diet

It's only natural that your dog craves real meat—his body is designed to eat a diet that relies heavily on it. Stella & Chewy's makes it easy to feed your domesticated canine friend this prey model diet. Each recipe has 90-95% meat, nutrient-rich organs and bone, and there are no added hormones or antibiotics. You can serve it as is, or crumble and rehydrate the patties. In just a matter of minutes, you'll have a wholesome, protein-rich dinner for your hungry pooch.

Raw Feeding Helps:

Minimal Processing, Maximum Flavor

Heavy processing of ingredients can diminish the nutritional value. But with freeze-dried, the end product still retains its beneficial nutrients. Frozen raw patties go into a freeze-dryer to remove moisture without ever applying heat or letting them thaw. So they come out with all the flavor, vitamins, minerals, omegas and amino acids they went in with. Plus, you'll never have to keep it in the freezer or defrost it.

Innovative Food Safety Technology

Food safety is always a concern, especially with raw foods. Stella & Chewy's takes every precaution with their SecureByNature food safety process that's recognized by the USDA and FDA. The ingredients undergo a special, 100% natural cold-press process that creates water pressure similar to that found near the ocean's floor. No harmful bacteria can survive, and there's no heat to damage nutrients and diminish flavor. Each batch is tested by an independent lab, and the results are even posted online for you to see.

Ethically Sourced Ingredients

Stella & Chewy's sources everything that goes into your pet's food from reputable suppliers that guarantee the integrity of the ingredients. Meat, poultry and fish are responsibly sourced from all over the world. The wholesome fruit and vegetables are certified organic.

Everyday Rewards

At only three calories per delicious bite, Carnivore Crunch is the ideal take-along snack. No dog will turn his nose up at these freeze-dried treats that deliver 98% raw meat, fish or poultry along with nutrient-rich organs and ground bone. They're full of 40-52% protein with cage-free turkey, chicken and duck; wild-caught salmon and cod; and grass-fed beef. Pumpkin seeds are added for even more protein and a little fiber.

How much to feed a 14 year old 6 pound Yorkie?
Answer by ChewyAug 30, 2018
The Feeding Guide is attached to reference for your pet. These are general guidelines that may be adjusted based on your specific pets nutritional needs.

How many patties are in a 14oz bag?
Answer by ChewyJul 29, 2019
The 5.5 ounce bags contain approximately 11 patties, 14 ounce bags have approximately 30 patties, and the 25 ounce bags have approximately 50 patties. Please note patty count per bag may vary slightly due to the product being filled by weight.

How long does this stay after opening? In a sealed bag?
Answer by ChewyAug 15, 2020
Stella & Chewy's products have a shelf life of one year past the date of production. We suggest using the product by the date listed on the bag or within about a month thereafter. Any longer than that and we would suggest discarding the product. Once opened, the product is freshest within the first few weeks, but is still safe until the expiration date. It's very important to ensure that the bag is resealed with the zip closure between each use.

My cats seem to love it as well is it OK to give my cat a small portion of the dog food of this brand
Answer by ChewyAug 30, 2018
This food is formulated for the nutritional needs of dogs. It is not recommended for cats.

Chicken yes, Lamb no.

We have the pickiest Maltese on the planet. Over his lifetime we have tried every possible high-end diet, from home cooked, fresh delivered, and a kazillion more. He LOVES this brand's chicken version, but the lamb is a big NO. The patties have an odd consistency and the odor to me is unpleasant. So maybe he feels the same way. But keep the chicken coming please!!!

For fussy eaters

A friend gifted me with a few of these from her dog. They happened to be chicken and my dog is sensitive to poultry. I passed the chicken onto my son who said his Shih Tzu sat by her dish all day waiting to get fed. I ordered lamb for my dog who is a fussy eater. Well, he sits at the counter waiting to be fed when he smells these. I mix 1/3 of a patty with his dry food. Sometimes, I add water and soak both foods together. He loves this food.

If you have a picky eater, this is the solution!

My 10 lb mini poodle would barely touch her food and then had a delicate stomach to boot! She's crazy about every flavor of the dinner patties and when I crumble one on top of her kibble, she'll even eat the kibble! And, I feel good about the quality of this food!

Really good

Willow loves her Stella an Chewy's patties. She gets freeze dried raw at night with her kibble. She can't have chicken and it is nice that it only has the ingredients it should have in it with no filler chicken bits. She gobbles it down, so apparently it tastes good, but I can't say first hand. Lamb, its' not just for car seat covers anymore.

Looks gross, smells worse and dog won't eat it

My dog's already on a raw diet, figured I'd try these for him. He will not touch it. Honestly from my perspective it smells kind of funny too, so I don't know maybe that has something to do with it? The patties themselves are extremely light and they really don't look good either. They're kind of like gray meat sawdust. I really can't blame him considering he usually gets 2/3 of his calories from human grade protein. I did expect a little bit better of this considering the high price. Glad I only got the small package

Was not a hit with my dog

My dog absolutely loves the duck duck goose flavor, so I thought she would like this as well. However, she absolutely will not eat the lamb. Very disappointing due to how expensive it is

Stella & Chewy Lamb patties

I feel like I'm giving my precious fur baby a cardboard disk. Very expensive product. Definitely would not recommend.

S&C always hits the spot

My dog loves all her Stella & Chewy’s flavors. I break up the patties and soak the pieces in warm water for a couple of minutes, then mash them with a fork. Sometimes I add a tblsp. of fat free Greek yoghurt or some Brussel sprouts or fennel! - she loves it. My kitties like a dry, broken up patty aside from their S&C cat food.

So glad we switched

We have a labradoodle that has been plagued with food allergies from daily diarrhea to constant ear infections and itching. Our vet recommended switching off of both chicken and beef, but it was hard to find products that weren't out of stock due to the pandemic or that he would eat. Our dog is already a very picky eater, but he loves this food. We do a combination of dry Stella and Chewy, whole grain raw coated with the lamb dinner patties. I'm happy to say that the diarrhea has gone away, he finally has normal poops that are no longer a huge watery mess, the butt scooting is way less as well. Ears are slowly getting better as well. I highly recommend the combo, especially if you have a larger breed.

Too hard and stale

My dogs usually love S&C patties. This was our first time with lamb variety. None of my 6 dogs would touch it. They took a sniff and left the bowl behind. Normally they devour the beef and chicken varieties. It took a steak knife to cut the patties and a very long time to rehydrate. I don't know if they were stale or had gone bad, but this was a waste of my money. Disappointed!
