I have used Hartz Hairball Paste (but now all brands make it in a gel), for many years. It is a really good product to keep the hairballs in check. The cats like the taste. I wish, it was an actual paste, because it was easier to administer to the cats. The gel tends not to adhere to the paw as well, and with the actual paste (not gel), I could administer it directly into the roof of the cat’s mouth and the cat would just inject it without any problem. You can’t do this with the gel. My cat(s) easily spit it out, so I have to really work the gel onto their paw to lick.
I mean... can't ask for a more ringing endorsement than that, right? Seems to also do a decent job of preventing hairballs. He still gets some, but there is definite improvement
I've tried many hairball remedies that have great reviews, but this is the only one my cat will eat. He was having difficulties due to hairballs but wouldn't eat any of the products I tried. He thinks this one is a treat and it really works!
Ordered this on my last shipment because it said paste which my cats prefer. It was not a paste, but a gel. The gel was horrible, super thick, did not lose it's shape as my cats tried to lick it, and I was unable to rub it on their paws due to the thickness. I'm not sure if it was old. I ordered a paste and got a gel. Cats could not eat it.
I was happy Chewy had this product as I was not able to get it from my vet's office. Thank you, Chewy.
One of my 2 cats loves this. Too much so! She takes it straight from the tube & if I didn’t stop squeezing it out she would eat the entire tube! (You do not want them to do that!) The other cat is too suspicious to try it. Once in awhile I smudge some on her paw but she’s caught on to my trick. Not easy to do now.
I got this because my cat has been throwing up hairballs. The vet said that he was also constipated and that I should get a hairball formula. I got this hoping that with the salmon flavor he would love it, nope! I tried hiding it in his food, he walked away and would not eat (he smelled it) and then I tried to get a blob in his mouth and that certainly didn't work, so my last ditch effort was to put some on the top of his foot. I thought yay that worked. Nope, he managed to flip it off and I found it later on the floor. I gave up and threw it out.
I have been giving Mittens this hair ball product for 10+ yrs. Receiving it in mail was my 1st time. The gel is REALLY hard to get out of tube. no smooth way for it to lay on my finger, as it has for the past decade. maybe an OLD tube????
The cat likes it and I have noticed a reduction in hairball issues.
My cats turn away when I use this. Even switched to tuna or salmon food, still no go.
