I think I need to stop buying minced or chunked wet cat food. I guess I hoped "minced" was smaller pieces, but they still are pretty big. My foster cats all seem to eat the gravy and end up leaving lots of the "chunks" in the bowl. It's discouraging to have to throw part of every meal away. Not sure how to fix this. Will add some toppers to what's left and see if that helps.
For unknown reasons, large-sized (12.5 oz) cat food cans have become virtually impossible to find, and one attraction of American Journey is that they still offer them. Larger cans are theoretically attractive to reduce food cost per ounce and packaging waste (even if recycled as metal). I suggest that you make more varieties available in these large cans, including minced versions rather than only pates.
I bought as a healthier choice? However, with 3 cats they would eat some of it but not as thoroughly as other brands tried. Too much left too frequently, so I bought more of cheaper stuff and mix them together hoping to use it up eventually?! It has less gravy than others (which had more gravy than meat!) I'd just add hot water but more of the water/ gravy was lapped up than meat sometimes!
I thought the kitties I feed would like a change and some of them like the plain chicken, beef and chicken and turkey pate American Journey wet cat food. But, they have not taken to these minced varieties much at all. I don't understand why as they have had other similar mixes. For my own opinion, I find it very frustrating that AJ chose to have the same color label for their chicken and tuna and their chicken and salmon mixes. With the tiny print on the label of the same color, it makes it harder to just grab a can and know what you are feeding without first having to figure out what you have grabbed. I think AJ can do better than that. There are many colors to choose from, it's rather ridiculous that I have to stare at the label to see what's inside.
These cans are the same flavors my cats like in the 12 oz cans of pate. They were surprised to find little pellets of food (size of very small kibble) in gravy. Some licked up the gravy and walked away, others gobbled - but eventually all was eaten. Good quality ingredients. Well-liked.
Just discovered American Journey and so far the cats seem to really enjoy the dry and wet and their coats are quite healthy.
Good food but only one will eat it while the other turns his nose up. That said, he has decided the American Journey dry food is all he will eat so not a reflection on this canned food. Before all he would eat was the canned. Cats drive me nuts!
For about 4 years now we buy the poultry variety and occasionally buy the poultry with seafood variety. We usually never have stomach problems but this shipment has given both my cats horrible diarrhea. Either this was a bad box or the quality has gone down hill over the past few years. My cat use to scarf down this food and lately will eat a few bites then walk away. We will be changing to a different brand as I do not think the quality is the same anymore.
