Questions & Answers

16 Customer Questions

it says that the litter is biodegradable but in the instructions it states not to dispose of it in the yard or compostable. isn't that the whole point of biodegradable?
Answer by ChewyJul 21, 2018
Naturally Fresh litter is biodegradable if composted or disposed of in a similar fashion. Landfill disposal of litter in plastic bags is not conducive to biodegradation.

does this litter turn to sawdust when wet like the pine pellets?
Answer by ChewyMar 07, 2019
This litter is super absorbent and virtually dust-free even when wet.

Do the pellets turn to sand once they get wet from the urine or does the urine just pass through?
Answer by ChewyOct 25, 2019
The Pellet Non-Clumping formula acts as more of a filter bed. The urine will filter to the bottom of the box and then absorb up into the pellets. Over time and with use, the pellets will begin to break down. It's recommended that the solid waste gets scooped daily and that the pellets be replaced once they no longer control the urine odor. It is also recommended that the box be emptied and sanitized every 30 days to maintain a fresh and healthy box.

Do you know if black walnuts are used in the pellets?
Answer by ChewySep 25, 2018
Naturally Fresh is made using English walnut shells. They do not use any black walnut shells in any of their litters.

Great!

My cats love it! It took them a little to get used to it, but once they did, it was the only litter they used. You do NEED a pellet litter system for this, you need to have a kind of screen so that the sawdust from when the pee disintegrates the pellets can fall through and then all you need to do is scoop the poop and stir the litter. (Sadly, the ones that are made for pellet are a bit pricy but they’re pretty easy to DIY. Just make sure that there’s a large enough gap in between the 2 sections so that there’s room for the sawdust to fall into!) It hardly has any odor once you scoop the poop out! I can’t say if this is better than the pine pellets since I’ve never used them, but I do think that it’s an easier transition for your cats and perhaps even more comfortable because these pellets are a lot skinnier than pine pellets so they don’t hurt the cat’s paws when stepping on it.
