Always wash your hands thoroughly after handling used cat litter, as cat feces may contain Toxoplasma gondii—a parasite that can cause toxoplasmosis. Pregnant or nursing women, as well as children and anyone with a weakened immune system, should avoid handling used cat litter. Always handle litter in a ventilated area to avoid inhalation. Keep contents and packaging out of reach of children and pets. Seek medical help in case of accidental ingestion.
Additional Instructions
Start by placing one to two inches of Naturally Fresh Litter in a clean cat litter box. Top dress with enough of your current cat litter to cover Naturally Fresh Multi-Cat Quick-Clumping Litter. Each time you change the litter, reduce the amount of your current litter.
It typically takes one or two changes for most cats to be comfortable with a new litter. Repeat reducing the amount of your current litter if needed.
Daily, our entire bathroom looked like it had been through a dust storm on Mars. Red dust everywhere, and the shower pan is permanently stained. A little background: We travel in an RV with the cats. Due to space constraints, the litter box is kept in the shower. We decided to try the walnut litter to see if it would track less than the grass seed litter. The grass seed litter outperforms every other litter we ever tried, but, mannnnnnn, does it track! Well, so does the walnut shell litter. Not only that, but it doesn't clump as well, and it stains some surfaces, like fiberglass and vinyl. Then there the dust. No clay litter can compare. Each day, I wiped super-fine red dust from every surface. Naturally, the worst concentration was in the bathroom. It was so fine, it could even be found in large quantities at the very top of the shower. The poor kitties were dirty. Our RV was/is dirty. I still can't get the reddish walnut stain off the shower. Never again!
I work with rescue cats/kittens. The latest kitten would not use my usual brand, The Worlds Best. But he and his mother both like this. I like that it’s organic enough to throw into the yard vs landfill. It’s obviously a bit messy, but honestly, I find that to be true with every litter! And it doesn’t exactly clump well. My goal is unscented natural so this is a win for our purposes. So happy for the option!
I am telling anyone that will listen about this cat litter. I love it !!!! I was reluctant to try it because of the price and the fact that it is only a 26 lb. bag. I wish I had tired it sooner. This litter is lighter than clay litter so you get more volume , so I was pleasantly surprised by the size of the bag. It truly is super absorbent , so it does last longer. It controls odor just as promised. I highly recommend it.
Since I started looking for alternatives to clay litter, I have tried several that just don't check the boxes (smell out of the bag, odor prevention, clumping adequately, cats like it). This one is great. Of course, no litter is going to eliminate odor, but as long as you clean the box regularly (I do it daily), this works well. I'm sensitive to scents, and this one doesn't aggravate my allergies. Highly recommend.
My cat's paws get so dirty from this litter and he tracks to his cat bed and window seat and when I wipe them clean with baby wipes they are covered in dirt from the walnut dust. The litter does last a long time though with scooping and adding fresh. Although because of my back the constant scooping is not working for me and need to go back to pine pellets that absorb the urine and then I only have to scoop the poop out once a day. Also the pine pellets less scooping will be good when I have to leave my cat for a few days while in hospital. My cat is use to the pine pellets. I am having lung issues breathing in the walnut dust.
After trying self cleaning litter boxes and my cats hating them I decided to go back to regular litter and try this. I LOVE IT. My cats love it, no more accidents outside the litter box. And the best part. I can't smell it anymore. It does track outside the box a bit, but I sweep once a day and problem solved. Worth it to have happy and non stinky kitties.
My family has had multiple cats at a time for over 50 years. This is by far the best cat box litter we've ever used. I've been using Naturally Fresh litter for at least a decade. It clumps well, absorbs smell well, lasts longer, and is easy to scoop. I never have to completely dump a box out, just keep adding fresh, meaning it's overall more cost effective. The cats are happy with it as well. My only complaint is that it is dusty and tracks out of their cat box area, but I've never found an affordable litter that isn't like that.
I purchased this because I had bought a brand on a whim and couldn’t remember what it was, but knew it was a natural cat litter at a local store. So I got this hoping it was the same one it unfortunately was not and while I do love that it is a natural litter. It does not smell good to me at all. It does not have any odor control whatsoever. I won’t be ordering again unfortunately. I could smell cat urine in the air the very next day after completely changing and cleaning out both litter boxes.
I've tried my fair share of litter since I've had a cat for 6 years now, and now I have 5 cats with 6 litter boxes Walnut litter pros - cheaper, it works for the most part, not as dusty as clay Cons - I don't really like the smell, and it feels like it enhances the poop and pee smell My cats tracked it everywhere and didn't seem to like it either, always kicking it out of the box. Its hard to scoop cause it's dark litter, especially if you have bad eyes or litters are in a dark room. Cause the litter is brown lol. It doesn't really dry out pee at all, especially fresh pee so it just sticks to your scoop and also sticks to the bottom of the litter, even my stainless steel litter boxes! I don't think it's that dusty really but maybe a little bit def less than clay litter. Only last like a week I think with multiple cats then you have to dump and replace it with new. Maybe with one cat it would last longer but idk Clay litter sucks in my opinion, it's cheap but pee gets stuck to litter, very dusty, Scented ones are so bad for you cat too. And it gets everywhere! Wheat litter clumping I like more than walnut and clay, it doesn't seem dusty except when you pour it in, but I think it is dusty cause my air purifier goes off every time I scoop. You definitely need to scoop once or twice a day cause it doesn't eliminate all odors. It also does not dry out pee fast, so you will get some fresh pee that sticks to your scoops sometimes . Poop is great with this and I like that it's a cheaper option. My cats like it too but I do see some dust in their feet sometimes but clay does that too. Pee does stick to the bottom of litter but comes off easier than clay and walnut, especially with stainless steel litter boxes. Ive only had it a week but I think it will last at least 3 weeks for 5 cats and 6 litters My fav litter is fresh step unscented crystal litter! It does track places and it's dusty but only when you first pour it in. My cats do kick it out a bit but not as bad as the walnut or clay. It's so awesome to not have to scoop pee also, just the poop and you mix it up daily. It lasts a whole month with 5 cats!! Only big downside is it is so expensive 😅
We have 2 Persian cats. Using clay cat litter for decades and looking to switch to a more environmentally friendly and more healthy for us and the cats, cat litter. This was the first non-clay we tried. No smell. Not much dust. Does track a little. Knocked off a star for it not clumping as well as clay. Knocked off another star for the dark color making it harder to scoop out the business every day. The search continues ... will try wheat then corn next.
