I recently had the pleasure of trying out Harvest Seed & Supply's Songbird Seed Cake, and I must say, it exceeded my expectations! The fact that I received it as a free sample made the experience even better. From the moment I unwrapped the seed cake, I could tell it was a high-quality product. The packaging was attractive and eco-friendly, which I appreciate. When I hung it in my garden, the birds flocked to it within hours. What impressed me the most was the variety of birds it attracted. I had everything from colorful finches to cheerful chickadees visiting daily. The seed cake seemed to be a hit with the local wildlife, and it brought a delightful burst of color and song to my garden. Not only did it attract a diverse range of birds, but it also lasted quite a while, which is great value for the price. I was pleasantly surprised by how long it lasted compared to other similar products I've tried in the past. Overall, Harvest Seed & Supply's Songbird Seed Cake is a fantastic addition to any bird lover's garden. The fact that I received it as a free sample was an added bonus, and I will definitely be purchasing more in the future to continue enjoying the wonderful birdwatching experience it provides. Highly recommended!
I received a free large suet cake in exchange for my honest review. I don't normally feed birds in August but since I needed to write a review. I put it out next to a tray of loose black oil sunflower seed. You only get the seed cakes and need a large suet feeder for it. Within a day my local Downy Woodpeckers found it and were enjoying it. My usual visitors include Black-capped chickadees, Titmice, White-breasted nuthatches, Cardinals. I even noticed a American Goldfinch near the feeders. It was up for five days before the squirrels found it and demolished it. My initial thought upon opening the shipping box was that it had a lot of loose pieces but when I opened the package up the amount of loose seeds wasn't as bad as I thought. It fit my large feeder well, a tad tight on the sides but no problem length wise.
I was given the opertunity to try a Harvest Seed & Supply Songbird Seed Cake, from a free sample program. I was not impressed with this bird cake. Mostly due to size. They only provided a cake, not including a feeder to hold the cake. We have several of the small holders, and love placing the traditional sized bird cakes weekly. This cake is giant and seems to never disappear, which isn't fun. My daughter enjoys placing new bird cakes each weekend, always picking a new flavor. I will say birds have flocked to it quickly, yet it seems to make them fight each other for it, then they all leave. So it's Mostly being enjoyed by ants, flys, & pesky ground squirrels. I do not recommend this product. I will stick with the smaller cakes.
I regularly feed the birds, squirrels and bunnies in my yard. I have used seed cakes prior and have a regular-sized seed cake holder. However, this seed cake was huge! It was taller, longer and thicker. So, after fighting to break it apart, it was still too thick to close the container door. I ended up putting it in pieces on the ground. It was of good quality and the animals seemed to love it. I even saw new birds that I hadn’t seen before. Perhaps they’ll make a regular-sized cake next.
I received this cake free in exchange for an honest review. Like others, I was a bit surprised by the size and it will not fit in the suet containers we use throughout the winter. Feeding birds in the summer is prohibited where I live because the feeders attract bears, so I haven’t yet been able to use it. It is high quality bird seed with a good mix of seed types, so I will definitely try to find a spot for it come winter.
I received this Harvest Songbird Seed cake as a free gift. The birds seemed to like it, but because it was in August and the temperatures were quite high, I think it melted a bit (or it was stolen by a squirrel) because a day or so later, it was mostly gone. It is a very large size and did not fit into my traditional square suet feeder, so I did leave it on our sundial, next to the bird bath. If I tried this one again, I would get a larger feeder and stick to my traditional winter feeding schedule.
I received this product free from Harvest Seed & Supply in exchange for a review. I was excited to receive the seed cake as I hadn’t tried seed cakes before. I was surprised how large the seed cake is. I love birdwatching in my backyard. I like offering a wide variety of food to the birds in my backyard to attract different species. I had to buy a large seed cake bird feeder to put it in. I put this seed cake out and watched. The birds were trying it out within 20 minutes. They seem to enjoy it and a lot of different species eat off of it. I will be buying more of these seed cakes made by Harvest Seed & Supply in the future.
Amazing experience to see all wild birds coming in my backward to taste the food. Is full of healthy hearty blend of black oil sunflower, striped sunflower, safflower, sunflower kernels, and peanuts. Good for environment also and less messy. One seed cake lasted about 2 weeks and i made 4-6 pieces and put in my bird feeder. Kind of feels this seed cakes have turned my backyard into a bird watching sanctuary. I received this product as a part of promotion but the reviews are mine/unconditional. Highly recommend
I too received this bird seed cake as a promotion. It's my first experience with seed cake. When received I didn't know it was going to be a block (I assumed it was a bag of loose seed) and I did not have the required feeded. So I broke the block into more manageable pieces and put those in the feeded. It quickly attracted Cardinals but not much else (Long Island, NY). It does not do well in the rain, but in fairness I did not use it as intended as I mentioned above.
We received this product in exchange for a trial-run and review. Unfortunately, this seed cake's current sizing is what we believe to be non-standard. It is a quite sizeable vs. what one would normally find in a store. Perhaps Harvest is gearing up to sell a proprietary seed cake holder. All that aside, it appears to be enjoyed by our backyard birds (and other creatures that can get to it). It hasn't melted and we keep it out of sunlight as much as possible.
