I have an elderly smallish sized golden retriever and a Prius. can't decide--5 step one or 6 steps?

It depends how high your dog can lift its feet really. I have a 100 lb Shepherd who’s elderly who has never loved stairs so the less of a step the better for her. As she gets older she doesn’t pick her feet up so high either. I loved that these could be made more gradual. For her the more gradual the better. Personally watching the way my girl is I’d suggest the 6 steps.

I have a Subaru Crosstrek and these work great for the back hatch. They are easy to open and store, and one of my dogs uses them (the other is skeptical and we're working on it). Only 4 stars because the stairs are too wide to fit side door on Subaru Crosstrek. Another minor issue is how the the black material shows dirt. A neutral color would keep cleaner IMO.

I bought this for my aging dogs (and my aging back) to get up into our Kia Sorrento. It took some coercion to get them up and down a couple of times, but now, no problems and the steps are nice and firm for my 35 lb mutt and 55 lb Aussie Shepherd. Great product so far and I’d definitely recommend it.

Initially I used the stairs for my 80 lbs dog to get in and out of the back seat of my suv but it scratched up the door so I used it for her to get in the back or trunk area and of course that works better but I cant see her way in the back and she like to sit in the back seat. It works well, it's a little steep for a suv but would be perfect for a compact suv or car but who needs it then.

Needed an alternative to a ramp for 9 yo dog to get in and out of SUV cargo area. She’s injured her neck twice from jumping in and out and hated the ramp I had for previous dogs. Using stairs like this are much more natural and easily accepted. Only had them for a short while but they appear to be very well constructed and stable. Love the heavy duty canvas material for the treads. Nice looking, lighter weight than my ramp and takes up much less space when stored in the vehicle between uses. And the price was very reasonable. Have shown and recommended this product to many dog park friends!

Our golden retriever is old enough not to be jumping from the back seat or from the cargo area. We tried another set of stairs to get into the back seat (bigger and bulkier), but Honey was terrified of them. When we traded in our car and went with one where Honey rides in the cargo area of our Forrester, I decided to try these. The title says it all! I can raise and lower these on my own, and the stairs are so compact they take up little room. Honey is a golden retriever who weighs more than she should, but she loves the 5 steps. I strongly recommend these.
