  • Good, but just a note...refrigerate.

I ordered this in September 2017 and am reviewing in January 2018. The scoop is teeny and I'm dosing a senior Cocker Spaniel. So I'm down to about half a jar. My girl started getting snoopy with her food and I tried eliminating all the nutrient / vitamin additives - one at a time - to see what was offending her...and in the process, I gave this a good sniff...and frankly, it smells rancid. Not rotten, but really strong...like there are oils in the powder and they've gotten strong? Regardless, that makes me sad. I kept the container in a kitchen cabinet the entire time...and the house averages 70 F year-'round. I wish I would've kept it in the fridge. I really do believe it helps. (I take a milk thistle supplement myself!) With this and some other supplements, my girl came back from a Cushing's diagnosis to "therapeutic" cortisol levels (woo-hoo! no meds!). BUT...put it in the fridge. Maybe that will prevent you from arriving at the same bad-smell conclusion I've come to. Blessings! … more

  • It Really Works

    By on

In 2015 her ALP was in the 200's and by early 2017 it went to 838. By fall of 2017 it went to 1473 at which point I heard about Milk Thistle. I started Oct 17 2017 and and her test on Feb 16 2018 had dropped to 661. She still has kidney disease but at least the liver is getting to where we need to see it for her age (13). I put my other pal on it too just in case. He's almost 8.

  • So far so good...

My dog loves the taste. I have not seen the benefits of this product yet, but I showed my vet and she said to give it a couple of weeks. It is a light brown color, we will see. But my dog loves it and he does seem to be more relaxed..

  • Tucker-Cancer

    By on

We recently found out that our Perfect Golden boy Tucker has hemangiosarcoma. Tucker will be 12 on Nov 2nd and we were devastated. The cancer is either on the liver or the spine. We have decided no more invasive treatment. Since starting this milk thistle I have noticed definite improvement in Tucker. We are using this product in conjunction with some other natural treatments but have noticed the greatest improvement since we started the milk thistle.

  • Great for liver cleansing

    By on Top 500 Contributor

I feed my lab mix a raw food diet, and wanted something to prevent any issues with her liver while on this diet. This product is easy to use, and my dog did not have any issues with flavor or texture. Great natural product that is easy to use. Even my cat ate it on her raw food !

This product has helped my yorkie's liver problem amazingly. No side effects either to use and not worry like other meds for liver disease.

  • HerbSmith Milk Thistle - Not the same

    By on

I agree with the previous review on new powdered formula. I emailed HerbSmith regarding the texture. They used a different grinder but plan to go back to the original in the near future. The new is much messier and just not as easy to use. Looking forward to the old formula on my next order - Too bad I ordered such a large jar.
