we bought this as we struggled with unhooking and hooking the traditional Herm Springer. we have a one year old golden who pulls. i should have heeded the poor reviews. The clip was put on properly due to recommendations we always made sure of that but the clip still came apart. it took us an hour to get him because now he had no collar or leash to grab him with. Very dangerous situation and we're grateful we managed to get him before anything bad happened to him or to us!! Chewy needs to listen to these concerns and stop selling this collar!
Terrible item - one of the links separated on its own - it seems to have simply disconnected, not snapped or broken metal, but simply unhooked itself from its linkage (unable to upload photo due to chewy website limitations) - our dog, 10month old english springer "puppy" ran off and was hit by a passing car - total nightmare
I have tried many collars to get my dog from pulling on the leash. Finally I have found one that works!!!
Pretty disappointed in the quality of this collar. I have used standard Herm Springer prong collars for years with no issues, but this one broke within a month. Additionally, it should be noted that this style does not use the same attachment method, and does not tighten when pressure is applied.
This collar works great & is helping me to feel more confident when walking my 77 pound 1 year old Labradoodle that he won’t pull me down as he had in the past! Highly recommend it and it doesn’t hurt the dog other than to remind him where & how he is suppose to walk.
Much easier to apply than the old school Herm Sprengers, BUT the plastic clasp that goes over the connection ALWAYS falls off.
We had one of these collars for our other dog. It was too big for Otto right now so we ordered the smaller one. I would highly recommend this collar.
our big boy is still a puppy (80+) pounds CHOLATE LAB- this collar works wonders with his training.
I would suggest sticking with the original herm sprenger collar. The sliding plastic piece breaks within a few days. Now when my German shepard pulls the collar unlatches. I have not contacted customer support as of yet. What I have heard is chewy has A+ customer service tho.
