can you buy links for herm sprenger
Answer by Silverfox1Apr 04, 2022
Yes, sold in packets of 3. They sell them on this site.

Can a dog wear it all day and everyday?
Answer by ChewyMay 15, 2018
This collar should only be used during walking or training sessions. These collars are not designed to wear for long periods of time.

Is the collar suppose to be tight around the neck so it stays in the right place? Not like other collars that are loose around the neck.
Answer by ChewyJan 09, 2019
The collar should fit snugly as it doesn't move around from the proper place. If the collar is loose, consider removing one of the prongs. A prong collar should sit right behind the ears and under the jaw. Placing the collar lower than this will make the collar ineffective.

Can you remove link from a standard size collar (one that doesn’t already have added links).
Answer by ChewyDec 22, 2018
All Herm Sprenger pinch collars come in a standard length which is adjusted to fit the neck of the dog by removing or adding links.

I call this the good boy collar

I have a husky who I inadvertently taught to pull me like a sleigh using a harness. I then upgraded to a slip leash, thinking that my intelligent dog would choose air over pulling- I was wrong. At my wits end, I elected to stop walking him to save my appendages from harm- he is just too strong. Enter the Herm prong collar. The very first walk with it, he knew he was got. His thick coat protects his skin from the metal, but he feels just enough to know that the dynamic has changed. The prongs do not suffocate him when they do their job- much unlike the slip leash. When I stop, he stops. Couple with a two handled leash and you are back in control. I now have one for each of my 3 dogs and we have eradicated our pulling problem. Anyone who calls these collars abusive either purchase cheap alternatives that arent built well, or are living in plain ignorance. Buy it if you have a pulling problem.

trying device

I recently purchased this for my 11month old Lab Although she is a very small Lab she is solid muscle! No one including myself is able to walk her! Over the years I have purchased several of these necklaces and all my labs walked great with this product You just need to make sure you get the correct size becsuse the teeth and the length are very important if the teeth are the largest size it won't work correctly and if the size around the neck is just a little bit larger it can really injure your pet by them putting their foot through the opening and can chock them also you don't want to leave it on them unattended as you would with a normal collar dogs are very creative and they can try to get it off and chock, injure or really hurt themselves trying to get it off!! Mine did and tried to run away so when I caught him his front paw was sticking out and he was chocking himself so don't leave it on them w/o supervision but all and all its a great product if you only use it to walk them!

This is a great training tool for some dogs.

I have no complaints. This isn't for every single dog, but it works for many. This is not a collar you slip over your dog's head. It needs to be put on just under the jaw/ears, and kept there. It should never be choking your dog to the point of harm. If it is, you may have it on too tight. It also isn't a magic wand. You have to train your dog while using it, not just throw it on and hope for the best. It's working well with my two big dogs (75 lbs. and 50 lbs.) who are working on different things.

Best training collar for small dogs

This collar is just right for my overly intelligent miniature poodle. The other companies were too heavy duty and very hard to get on and off. It also has a safety quick release. Love it!

It really works!

I have a husky (11 months, over 60lb) who pulls so much when he sees a squirrel and birds on a walk. I was hesitant to use it at first, but it made my life so much easier! It works magically. I used a 14-inch neck, 2.25-mm collar with additional 3 links.

Great for walking with 7 month old pup

This turned our lives around with our difficult puppy. She walks well with this but we have trouble getting it on and off her as you have to have enough strength to pinch the collar on and off. She is pretty patient with the process but this does not seem to work for us.

WOW the negative comments smh

This has been the best quality and working than any other I’ve tried. I know you can’t please everyone but some of the negative comments wow. Doesn’t fit- add or remove links easily, not rocket science. Hard to return no link to return- lol just call, they answer the phone 24/7 by the second ring never an issue for years. Left a stain on the neck/fur- hmmm??? Stainless steel doesn’t stain hence the name “stainless steel” maybe try bathing your dog There are some that just complain about everything, And lastly give us the name of a pinch collar that is better if its that bad.

Great Training Tool

This collar made it possible to walk my dog. She would chase anything if it was moving- bunnies, squirrels, moths, bees, leaves, etc. Tried the no pull harness and that barely contained her. Within less than a few days using the prong collar, there was no more lunging, jumping, twisting, going from side to side, running behind or in front of me. She now walks calmly beside me (on the side I want) with hardly any corrections needed. It is well made, easy to put on, dog didn't mind it at all but can tell the difference between this and other collars. Highly recommend it for a training tool esp. for walking.

The bad reviews

I have this collar no complaints. These collars are NOT slip over the head collars. They also are not necklaces, they need to be placed behind the ears and right under the jaw otherwise you will cause unnecessary injury to your dog. The collar is sturdy and doesn't fall apart because it's in the correct spot and is the proper size for my dog. This product won't be effective with out supplemental training and is not a fix all. It seems like the negative reviews are just from clueless people that don't learn how to properly use these tools.
