How do you measure the prong? What part are you lining up against the ruler?

The prongs are measured by their gauge (or thickness), not by their length. The 12 inch collar uses links that are 1+1/6 inch long with a thickness of 2.25 millimeters. The 16 inch collar uses links that are 1+7/16 inch long with a thickness of 3.0 millimeters. The 18 inch collar uses links that are 1+1/2 inch long with a thickness of 3.2 millimeters. The 20 inch collar uses links that are 1+3/4 inch long with a thickness of 4.0 millimeters.

Unnecessary purchase

Following the instructions to measure my dog for the right size HS prong, I thought I would need at least one extra set of prongs, when in fact I did not need any

So disappointed!

I thought this was the best brand out there! My pit bull lunged and the collar released somehow. He attacked another dog. Took 6 neighbors to help me get him off

I thought this was the best brand out there! My pit bull lunged and the collar released somehow. He attacked another dog. Took 6 neighbors to help me get him off the other dog. Two people were bit by other dog. One BIG disaster! I am now finding out from others that they have had the collar release, as well. If you buy this collar, you must purchase another thing that will attach this collar to the 2nd collar your dog must wear. I had to rehome my dog.

Training collar-Good not great

This collar is very effective to train and work with my GSD. The prongs are very difficult to take apart which must be done when putting the collar on and off-

This collar is very effective to train and work with my GSD. The prongs are very difficult to take apart which must be done when putting the collar on and off- especially taking it off. If getting this type of collar you need to be sure it has the click lock clasp otherwise it might be very hard to get off your dog. This type of collar should not be left in””on your dog when not actively working with your dog. If the collar is so big that it slides easily on and off, it doesn’t work well. A good collar with the easy release clasp. Otherwise you must have very strong hands to use the collar safely. The easy release clasp must have the cover slid all the way over the release button or it can fail. Good but not a great collar. Honestly, not sure that a traditional choke collar would not be better once your pup gets is trained.
