Feeding Instructions

Sunburst Treats can be fed in a separate treat dish or mixed with your pet’s daily food. Discard any unused portion before feeding again. Feed treats to not exceed 20% of your pet bird’s total daily food consumption. This helps to ensure that your pet is receiving the required nutrients from its regular fortified food. We recommend one of Higgins premium diets like inTune, Sunburst Gourmet Blend, Safflower Gold, Mayan Harvest and Vita Seed. Be sure to try all the Sunburst Gourmet Natural Treat flavors!

Transition Instructions

While introducing a new food to your bird friend, gradually mix new food with your pet’s old diet. Increase the amount of food over a period of 7 to 10 days. This will allow your pet to adjust to the new food and it will prevent any upset to your pet’s digestive system.

I have 2 parakeets and I ran out of grit and gravel and needed something fast and I did not want to drive 20 miles 1 way to buy some. It is working for them at present but they are not crazy about it.

    Mmmm....i tried

Cool product but my birds doesn't seem to want any. So i won't fight her. I just mix it with her food. If she doesn't i might ground it up smaller to see if that works. Pickyest bird on earth.

    Use of Grit - ?

    By on

I know. Some owners say it is unhealthy to use grit for your parakeet budgies. Some use it. I have taken the middle road and use it only occasionally, maybe a pinch once a month. I like the color and various sizes of this grit and because it is oyster shell, it is biodegradable which is safer for the birds than gravel.
