What makes this for ages 7 and under only? I'd like a light/hairball kibble but our cats are in the double digits- still very active though.
Answer by ChewyJul 04, 2019
This formula is designed as a complete and balanced diet for adult cats 1 to 6 years of age who are prone to hairballs. The Hill's Science Diet Adult 7+ Hairball Control Chicken Recipe Dry Cat Food is a great alternative for cats over 7 years of age.

How big is the kibble or how does the size of the kibble compare to the Adult Indoor or Dental? Thank you.

The kibble is similar to the size of a pea. This kibble is a lot smaller compared to the Dental, however the same size compared to the Indoor adult.

Kitties Love This

My kitties know this food is for them even before I open the bag. If I'm not ready to open the bag I need to make sure it's safely tucked inside a cabinet, otherwise they will chew holes in the bag to get to it! When I'm ready to open the bag they can hardly wait until they can have some! I like how it addresses fur balls and that the formula is light.

Has worked well for years

I have three cats, two have issues with hairballs and this has totally cured it. Good company and the food is always consistent. They still have hairballs but very rare due to this food. Price is fair too.

Science Diet light hairball

Not one of my cats would touch this stuff, not even when I tried to SLOWLY introduce it to them. So I spent this ridiculous amount of money for nothing. VERY unhappy! I have never had a food before that they wouldn't touch.

Constipates

I got the light version this time and while my cat loves it, she gets constipated or gobbles it down and then throws up. Going back to the regular version

Vet recommended

We saw a veterinarian nutritionist for our grossly overweight cat. She recommended Hairball Control Light to decrease calories and help the cat feel full. Our cat liked it and she lost 6 lbs. over a period of time. We are keeping her on it for her maintenance diet.

Works well

I have used Hills pet food for other pets for 20 years. Started using this for my new long hair cat to help control hairballs. It is wonderful. No hairballs since.

Good thing this was still available

All pet stores near me are out of some Science Diet products. Unfortunately this time around it's the hairball control dry food. My little guy eats this. Have to give him a bit more than normal but he doesn't seem to mind. Didn't want to swap brands all of a sudden due to supply problems(everywhere).

Seems to work

My little Burmese was thowing up nearly once a day. This hairball control formula has cut that down quite a lot. Now kitty thows up only once a week or so.

Refuses to eat

I have a 20 lb cat who will eat anything until I bought him Hill’s Hairball control cat food. I tried mixing with his previous food, giving him only this cat food, attempting to break food into smaller pieces, not easy to do, nothing works. He would rather starve. I bought this cat food for issues with vomiting in hopes it would help.
