Easy to store convenience and quality

The Hills Science Diet Salmon and Vegetable Stew comes in convenient single serve packets that are much cleaner and convenient than traditional cans as it takes up significantly less space to store (a huge plus for me with my limited cabinet space) and has an easy tear-open feature to the pouch which means I’m not fumbling to get it open. The stew itself is chunky but the pieces are petite enough for kitty mouths and it has an ample mix of salmon complemented by the veg. I deducted one star only because it will be up to each individual cat’s preference regarding the taste and texture. Three out of four of my cats seemed to like it on the first try, while the fourth cat (a notoriously picky eater) snubbed his little pink nose at it (then tried to bury it). If you have a cat who is not a fan of pâté or shreds, then this may be a happy medium worth trying.

My cats eat a lot of wet food but mostly pate and with limited exposure to fish flavors so I wasn’t sure what to expect when offering them the Science Diet Salmon & Vegetable Stew. The packets contain a good amount of salmon along with visible vegetable chunks and was easy to serve. After a couple initial sniffs my 2 adult males didn’t take long to chow down on the food and pretty much cleaned their bowls, however my picky senior girl was more cautious (maybe about the veggies?) and ate just a few bites of the stew before turning up her nose. My household is home to some truly particular felines, so new foods are always a gamble. We tried the Hill's Science Diet Salmon & Vegetable Stew with mixed results. The texture and appearance of the stew were decent enough, with visible chunks of fish and vegetables that seemed appealing. My cats did show initial interest and ate some of the food, which, for them, is a minor victory. However, they didn't finish their bowls and quickly lost interest, suggesting it wasn't the flavor home run I was hoping for. My main hang-up, though, is with the ingredient list. I'm not a fan of seeing ingredients like powdered cellulose and soybean oil in their food. As an owner trying to provide high-quality, whole-food nutrition, these fillers and less-than-ideal oils are a definite downside for me.

One was a bit hesitant at first and only licked it, but after about one week, all three were eating it with no hesitation and preferred it over their regular wet food. I started by mixing small amounts with their regular food, and it worked perfectly. The food itself looks so delectable and appetizing — even I can see why they enjoy it! I also love the convenience of the single-serve packets — so easy and mess-free!

Even though my fat cat will eat just about any wet food on the planet (she doesn't get wet food everyday), this was a huge hit. There was absolutely nothing left over and she ate it so fast I'd consider a slow feeder. I appreciate this comes in packs for easy squeezing out, and it ultimately looks pretty much like the picture on the package including the vegetables listed.

It’s a nice soft food, not firm like a pate style would be, and you can see what looks to me like actual diced veggies in the mix because it’s actual real food. The pouch is ways to open and easy to store. My cat immediately started chowing down and I’m so happy because quality food and hydration is so important to keeping cats healthy.

Both of our kitties LOVE this product. It has alot of juice which they love. I find they eat it all at once rather than pick at it all day. The pouches are a little more difficult to get emptied into their food dish but it it easier to open than some cans and other types of cat foods so it is not a big deal. I will purchase this product on a regular basis in the future. Hills Science is a great line of pet products which I trust. I would recommend this product to other kitty parents.
