Does Hill's Science Diet Adult Sensitive Stomach & Skin Grain-Free Salmon & Vegetable Entree Dog Food comes as DRY food?
My dog is allergic to chicken. I have to make sure there is none in this. Other foods sneak chicken fat, chicken something in other foods I have bought. No chicken?
Answer by • Nov 28, 2017
This product contains chicken.
Is the salmon farmed or wild? I’m concerned about mercury and excess contaminants.....
Answer by • Jun 04, 2018
Whenever wild-caught salmon is available, it is sourced for this diet. When not available, farm-raised Salmon from the Pacific Northwest is used to ensure the recipe is still available. Regardless of where salmon comes from, farm raised or ocean caught, it has to pass their rigid testing and meet their specific nutrient levels for our use. All salmon is processed in federally inspected facilities.
Why add sugar to any dog food??
Answer by • Dec 24, 2018
Sugar in the food can mask the bitter taste of some other ingredients, can make the food more palatable and changes the texture of the food.
Both my Boston Terriers dislike the taste of this item. The oldest (11 y/o) will lick a little and that is IT. I will be donating the remainder of the case.

Inconsistent food quality
This product is very inconsistent with regards to the consistency. Some cans are dry and some are very wet and sticky. My dog has no teeth so she finds the very sticky food difficult to get out of the bowl. She prefers the drier consistency, but we never know what we will get until the food shows up.....

my 19 yr old loves Hills
My 19 yr old beagle was struggling with stomach issues, diarrhea, vomiting and eating grass. After trying several different foods including human grade, I gave her hills sensitive adult canned food. Her stomach issues are now gone. So glad I found something my older dog can tolerate.

Colgate & Palmolive
This was a big mistake on my part for not doing research. My girl developed a sensitive tummy after a round of bad antibiotics. I put her on the kibble and canned version of this food and it made a tiny difference. She still had episodes of stomach gurgling and mucus with or without blood diarrhea. After a couple of months she refused to eat the kibble version of this food. That made me do some research because she is not a picky eater. This brand is sold at many vet offices and one is led to believe it to be a trust worthy brand. Who owns this brand? Colgate & Palmolive does. Do I want dog food from a toothpaste and soap company? No! I found it on a list of dog foods to avoid because of "junk" ingredients.
I should have kept my girl on her regular food and added probiotics, which is what I am successfully doing now. I have switched back to her previous diet which is Instinct kibbles and Blue Buffalo canned food for topping and mixing in probiotics because I can't afford the Instinct canned food anymore.
The Science Diet canned food is very dry which makes it difficult to mix it with probiotic powder. Some ingredients are alarming and I am ditching over two cases of this.
Many vets sell this and shame on them.

Improved Gut Health and Stools
My poor dog has consistent issues with her stomach. She is very sensitive and I have had to take her to the vet many times for diarrhea and intestinal infections/inflammations. They recommended switching her food and I decided to try Hill's for sensitive stomachs. Since starting this food a few months ago she hasn't had any diarrhea and her stools are much healthier looking. I am quite pleased with this food and will stick with it.
