My husband and I recently adopted a puppy from TALGV. At the time of adoption, we were told that he was fed Hill's Science Det Puppy food. I wanted to continue the food he was accustomed to and ordered the food from Chewy - as I could not find it locally. I got his food in less than 2 days - thank goodness because we were very close to running out. The kibble is larger than the food we received but he managed to eat it without any difficulty. I am pleased with the delivery time and also the quality of the food. He has not had any tummy issues from this and actually seems to enjoy eating it.
We adopted two dogs from the shelter and they gave us some small bags of this food. I ordered more of it and it is an excellent food. Our vet also recommended it. The dogs' poop is always firm and really doesn't smell much at all. The dogs almost never have gas and their coats are shiny and the dogs are healthy and vigorous. The ingredients label has ingredients that I can understand. The dogs also really like this food and eat it willingly and happily. I would highly recommend this food.
Cons-The new bags are 27.5 lbs, 2.5 lbs less than before. The price is ever inceasing. The pups eat it but they are getting bored with it. The recommended feeding schedule is a little excessive for my girls. Pros- less poop, the food doesn't have an overwhelming smell, it has been consistent and reliable nutrition. Hills Science diet offers other flavor options like lamb for my pups, and a lean muscle for my older girl.
I wish I'd been aware of the recipe changes before we finished the bag of the old recipe. This food gave our Golden Doodle diarrhea and we had to scramble to find anything close to the old version to help him make the switch.
This brand & formula was recommended by our Vet for our new puppy. Puppy gives it Two Thumbs up... or paws anyway! Auto-ship is super convenient & I appreciate being able to adjust the date as we determine how quickly a bag gets consumed.
We have a 4 month old lab puppy. He was on another food that was making him sick. Our Vet prescribed Hills Large Bread Puppy and he loves it and every thing settled down on him. We were so impressed with the Puppy food we switched out Cat’s to Hills Cat food and they also love it. Chewy gets it to us in two days.
What used to be a 30lb bag of food is now a 27.5lb bag of food but is still the same price- Unforgivable !!!
The Science Diet repacking of the food has way less ounces in it from the company and Chewy has gone up on their cost.
