Will feeding my dog the dehydrated makes his stools runny?
Answer by sscarlettaApr 18, 2021
I would transition over a 1 to 2 week period. Any abrupt changes in a dogs diet can cause some GI upset.

Is talapia used in this recipe under “white fish”?
Answer by ChewyJun 29, 2018
The Honest Kitchen Grain-Free Fish Recipe Dehydrated Dog Food is made with wild-caught, Marine Stewardship Council-certified white fish and antioxidant-rich produce — including Pacific cod and pollock caught off the coast of Alaska. Tilapia is not used.

Does this food have large chunks in it (like Sojos)? Or is it smaller/finer?
Answer by ChewyMar 19, 2018
This food is a grounded consistency. Please refer to the photo below for a visual representation.

Quality food

I've been serving THK dehydrated food for over 16years to my past and current dog. I do rotate flavor and grain free and all grain for variety each month. Dogs have never had any issues with the rotation. Mixes well and I do mix kibble in with it. I also add a little treat and use the HK turkey bone broth to hydrate.

Dehydrated dog food

I found this food that did not contain any food products that my dog is allergic to. My German Shepherd does her happy dance for the Fish grain free formula

Great Ingredients but Consistency Too Powdery

I was very hopeful this could become my goto food for my dog. I like the ingredient list and the fact it is gently dehydrated at low temp to preserve nutrition values. Also the idea I am not paying for water as it is dehydrated. Would much prefer it to have consistency of small chunks when dehydrated and then reconstituted. Instead it is powdery in it's dehydated state and forms a pasty mess when adding water which hardens quickly or to avoid paste consistency and hardening adding a lot of water to be soupy. Either way my dog does not find it very palatable as a paste or soup. My dog does like wetted dry kibble mixed with fresh dog food that comes in in a pellet or small chunk form. Wish Honest Kitchen would make their dehydrated foods in pellet or small chunks instead of powder.

Contains eggs

My dog loves the taste of this, but she has a chicken allergy, which is why I had bought this fish recipe. I made the mistake of not reading the ingredients to see there are eggs in it. Sad to say we won’t be buying it again, as it made her allergies flare up. Please make a true “fish only” recipe!

No more pancreatitis for Molly

I will never forget the day I started Molly on this food it was February 21, 2021. She suffered from pancreatitis her whole life and I tried brand after brand that promised results only to have her get sick again and again. In February 2021 I found out about The Honest Kitchen brand and ordered it, started Molly on it the day I received it and she has not had an attack of the pancreatitis since. I am so grateful for this food and to for carrying it. Molly is a happy and healthy 13 year old Jack Russell Terrier.

Excellent Product.

This fish recipe was recommended by our vet. Our dog has/had cancer and the vet didn't want her to have chicken like the other dogs. She loves it and we do, too.

Throwing it up, so throwing it away!

Our dogs love the freeze dried beef but the fish has made our small dog quite sick. We will not be ordering it again! She has thrown up every bite. The only reason we tried this kind was at the time the beef was supposed to be delivered we were told you were out! $60 waste of food!

Not A Fan of This Food

One of my dogs has diarrhea after eating this and the other one won’t eat it. Been buying Grain-free Turkey of this brand for years and have never had any digestive issues. Only reason I ordered this was because there was no Turkey with or without grain available.
