I started feeding this to my easy keeper about a month ago. He started getting very girthy about a week ago and I had him scoped. He has ulcers. This horse never had ulcers. Then I read and googled the ingredients and Copper Sulfate is a poison that actually causes ulcers and kills their gut bacteria. And it's not a fixed formula either or it wouldn't say 'roughage products'. I feel terrible for my horse.
Our 28 year old horse has Cushing's disease and had stopped eating her regular grain. I ordered a bag of Zero and she loves it.
My mare was diagnosed with insulin resistance and needed to have her insulin levels lowered. She loves the Hygain Zero and is gradually getting better! Thank you Chewy for stocking a feed that otherwise would not be available to me!
I have a 24 year old Appy with Cushings and was having a hard time finding a grain he will eat. Saw the reviews on this and thought I would try it. I am so happy I did. He loves it! He looks great and I can tell he feels great too. Highly recommend.
I was so worried that my picky eater wouldn't touch this but we transitioned over a week and he gobbles it up! He hasn't been on it long enough for me to review much else, but at least its picky eater approved.
Great feed for Cushings horse- truly low NSCs. Thanks to Chewy for carrying this feed to help older horses!!
Amazing feed for polysaccharide storage myopathy aka pssm 1. She is able to compete at a high level, looks amazing, and has zero issues tying up on this feed.
My friend has two horses with PPID and this is the best choice for food out there for them perfect for their diet and they love it!
My horse is gaining weight slowly as my Vernerian recommended.
My mare was diagnosed with laminitis in all 4 hooves three years ago and has had a lifetime management of borderline insulin resistance. Managing her diet is critical, having laminitis tipped everything over the edge. I was introduced to Hygain and fortunate enough to have access to this grain from a friend who was importing it by the pallets for their show horses, when it was not typically available to the general market. At the time there was limited grain available with a low NSC but not as low as Hygain. I have used this product for THREE years. I am grateful it is now available to the mass market thru Chewy. Without a doubt this grain is a contributing factor to my mare's survival along with hay soaking, great medical care and an amazing orthopedic farrier. She has made a full recovery. Her transition to the grain was smooth and she is a picky eater. I highly recommend this product!
