What are the side affects if any? Bathroom, gastrointestinal etc.
Answer by ChewyJan 08, 2018
This Supplement contains EPA and DHA. These nutrients both thin the blood and reduce inflammation in the joints and blood vessels thereby reducing the strain on our hearts, enhancing easy blood flow to the brain, and relieving aches and pains. As an added benefit, Omega-3 also increases HDL levels, the “good” cholesterol, acting to unclog arteries.

What if any levels of murcury is present in the oil?
Answer by ChewyAug 13, 2019
Iceland Pure Pet Products extract their oils at very low temperatures. This procedure ensures that the fatty acids are not broken thus the fish oil qualities are not lost. Their process of distillation is called "molecular-distillation". This is a state-of-the-art process by which all harmful materials are separated and removed from the product. After the detoxification process, the levels of impurities, toxins or heavy metals in our products are considered toxin free specially in comparison to FDA guide lines.

Does the salmon used for this oil come from fish farms or is it sustainably wild-caught?
Answer by ChewyDec 17, 2017
The salmon used in this item is farm raised in Norway.

Does this need to be refrigerated after opening??
Answer by ChewyMar 08, 2022
We recommend that you use the oil once opened in 90 to 120 days, this doesn't mean that the oil will go bad after such period. The best way to know if the oil is good is by smelling it. If it smells rancid it's time to get a new bottle. If the oil is kept in the fridge, it will last much longer but is not necessary to do so.

Seems Perfect with Minimal Scent

Though concerned about the negative reviews, I know how good Chewy is if an order has issues, so took a chance on this while it was on sale. Seems excellent: the two bottles we got both had an expiration 2 years out, the first bottle opened is nearly scentless, and the oil has a light orange tint as is correct for cold processed salmon oil. Salmon oil (along with Zyrtec) seems to be helping my german shepherd with his environmental allergies -- for sure it's made his fur silky smooth, and he's barely itching anymore, though the heavy lifting on that might be more the Zyrtec. Either way, the salmon oil is only helping, and my non-allergic shepherd gets it as well.

Repeat buyer

Seems to be working well for my two Great Dane Mixes- WELL WORTH the price, considering the 33 oz bottle lasts me about a month whereas other, more expensive brands only last them about 2-3 weeks. I’ve been feeding it for about 1 month and so far their coats are much softer. One of my dogs has skin allergies which may/may not be improving, so time will tell if there’s anything benefiting him in that department. Otherwise- mild fish smell but not bad at all, I had no issue with pumps, and my dogs have not had any upset tummies!

Our regular salmon oil was out of stock so I bought this instead. Don’t get it on anything! It hardens in the pump and on anything it drips on and is very difficult to clean. Never again.

wanted to like this

I so, so badly wanted to like this product. I got it mainly for my older cat since he has some skin issues, but he refused to eat his food for several days after using this resulting in a vet visit since I couldn’t give his insulin :( I then decided to try giving it to my cat who eats everything and even she won’t touch it. I’m bummed to say the least.

Definitely NOT unscented

My dog who will normally eat anything will not touch this. This is definitely not unscented and when I accidentally got some on my hands it took several washing and the smell is still lingering.

great stuff

i have a pitty with sensitive skin. she wont take it at first then i started just putting it on the spoon and give it to her. she dont like the smell but loves the taste lol. i have noticed the itchy skin is starting to lessen on her. she use to tear her ears up itching all the time. this is great for her. her fur is feeling softer to. any one with itchy pitties give it a try.

solved our dandruff problem

Arrived February 7th, and by February 20th there was already a visible reduction in my female cat’s dandruff! Her back was previously covered at all times, but now only a few flakes shake out when she is touched. Both cats are much softer and shinier as well. We have to feed them chicken based food due to my male cat’s stomach issues, but luckily this oil hasn’t caused any of his usual issues with non-chicken protein.

I normally love this product but for some reason this time the pump is not working properly, and it leaks every time I use it :-(

Great Product

I have been giving this to my rescue Pit/Boxer mix for 2 years now! Great product, low order from salmon. She loves it on her morning food. Seems to help with dry skin issues so common with this breed, Large can lasts a long time too!
