About Instinct Limited Ingredient Diet Cat Food

Instinct Limited Ingredient Diet Cat Food
1 ANIMAL PROTEIN

1 ANIMAL PROTEIN

The ingredient list is purposefully simple for pets with food sensitivities. It focuses on one animal protein and one vegetable—versus the mix of each you'll find in most pet foods.

SIMPLE AND ESSENTIAL

SIMPLE AND ESSENTIAL

Sometimes what's not included is just as important as what is. These recipes are made with grass-fed meat or cage-free poultry and always made without grain, dairy, eggs, potato, corn, wheat, soy or artificial ingredients.

Pure, real nutrition of raw on every piece

Pure, real nutrition of raw on every piece

They put the pure, real nutrition of raw on every piece of Instinct Limited Ingredient Diet by tumbling their kibble with crushed, freeze-dried raw—raising the bar in nutrition and taste.

The Pure, Real Nutrition of Raw Is In Everything Instinct Does

Instinct's Responsibility as The Raw Brand

LEAD WITH RAW

It all started with Instinct's raw pet food. Since the beginning, they've led with raw because they know the good it can do. They're rewriting the rules of pet food and championing raw nutrition to bring its superior benefits to all that they do.

KEEP IT REAL

Delicious and nutritious pet food should only use real ingredients. For Instinct, this means all-natural, real meat, fruits and vegetables, with nothing artificial.

MAKE IT SIMPLE

Feeding raw should be simple, and it should easily fit into your everyday routine. Instinct believes raw should be accessible to pet parents so every pet can experience the benefits of raw nutrition.

GIVE BACK

Instinct believes in the power of raw nutrition. It only makes sense to share it. Together with Best Friends Animal Society, they're furthering the no-kill movement and their shared mission of transforming and saving the lives of pets.

MAKE IT BETTER

Instinct has never been afraid to challenge the status quo of pet nutrition. They continuously redefine what better means—always pushing their standards of nutrition to raise the bar in pet food.

Pure, real nutrition of raw on every piece

ONE MILLION MEALS

All pets deserve food that's real, nutrient-rich, grain-free and natural. That's why Instinct provides over one million meals annually to the dogs and cats at Best Friends Animal Society adoption centers nationwide. Because what we feed them can make all the difference. Here "we" refers to the pet parent, not Instinct.

About Instinct

Instinct believes deeply that it's up to them to find a way to make it possible for more people to feed their pets the pure, real nutrition that only comes from raw. They know that if they can get the nutrition of raw into more bowls, they'll transform the lives of more pets. And that's really why they do what they do.

  • I recommend but with reservations

Our grey calico is allergic to chicken. Which is the most common protein in any cat/dog food on the market. We had tried the duck, which she loved and decided to try the turkey too. It is too close to chicken. So she loved it but her ears were itching and bothering her within the first can being fed. But I fully recommend as long as there are no domestic poultry allergies.

  • This High-Quality Cat Food is Excellent!!!

    By on

I recently had to change from a brand/company that I had purchased from for many years, and while that canned cat food is apparently still popular, its quality has significantly declined as has been the case with so many companies that have come under new ownership and management and have become so large and diversified that they are cutting corners and including harmful gums and fillers in their products. Nature's Variety is still made by a smaller company and it is essentially a very high-quality product. I have three cats, and although two of them eat a high quality organic raw diet that I make at home, my third cat cannot tolerate that diet due to allergies and textural issues and so I I recently had to change from a brand/company that I had purchased from for many years, and while that canned cat food is apparently still popular, its quality has significantly declined as has been the case with so many companies that have come under new ownership and management and have become so large and diversified that they are cutting corners and including harmful gums and fillers in their products. I have three cats, and although two of them eat a high quality organic raw diet that I make at home, my third cat cannot tolerate that diet due to allergies and textural issues and so I must provide the highest quality grain-free limited ingredient canned diet that I can find for her. She made the transition to Nature's Variety Limited Edition Turkey formula almost seamlessly and my other two cats, on the rare occasions when I also feed it to them, love it too! The texture is uniform and soft, though formed and the smell is a meat smell unlike so many other products being sold these days. The ingredient list is excellent (though I extract the filler peas, but at least they are real peas, though not needed nutritionally, but still so much better than the harmful gums and other ingredients used in other brands). Thank you, Nature's Variety, for making this still excellent product, and Thank you, Chewy.com for carrying it! … more

  • perfect for healthy and special needs pets

we have 5 cats and most of them eat this food. they love the pate style. it's important to me that their food does not contain grains, a lot of vegetables, and carrageenan. it is hard to find a limited ingredient carrageenan-free canned food for cats with IBD (inflammatory bowl disease). this is a great and cost-effective cat food option for multi cat households.

  • Yay, food with no MSG!

    By on

I can't believe how many pet foods (most) have MSG (aka "natural flavors") in them, so was happy to find an LID pate wet food without it. Kitty loves this food and gobbles it up. Thanks, and please don't ever change it!! : )

  • Healthy for my cats and they love it!

    By on

My two boys love this food which makes me very happy as it does not have all of those 'bad' ingredients. It's very hard to find pet food that does not have harmful by-products, chemicals, etc, that will ultimately hurt my cats. Chewy.com offers this quality food at a fair price, and I love the free shipping.

  • High quality low starch Limited Ingredient food that cats actually love.

    By on

Continuing on food elimination trial for highly allergic cat who must remain on a Limited Diet for the rest of her life, as will her sister to prevent her exposure to allergens. A Vet Specialist recently clarified, to my great surprise, that an allergy to chicken may not necessarily mean allergy to turkey or duck. She believes that poor quality meat protein and mixing several different meat proteins in cat food as manufacturers commonly do may contribute to food allergies. Nature's Variety Instinct has made the cut as a quality food on several independent nutrition websites. It is also comparatively low in starch content, because being grain free is not enough. I wish it were starch free. I wish it were starch free. My cats snub their noses at many of the Limited Ingredient brands and eat them only because they have to. But they devour both wet and dry of the Nature's Variety Limited Turkey Formula. It's so great to see them come running for their bowls like they used to before all the allergy problems surfaced. I wish Nature's Variety had a few more choices for rotation, such as venison and duck. I've only found turkey and rabbit, and prefer to save rabbit as a future alternative in case additional allergies to fowl develop. So I continue to be dependent on other Limited Ingredient brands for rotation. But this is my cats' favorite!. … more

  • WOW - Bianca Loves This Stuff!

    By on

Not only is my rescue cat a very picky eater but she has a sensitive tummy and early-stage kidney disease. So I can't feed her just any old wet food! I emailed Nature's Variety to ask for the sodium and phosphorous levels in all of their wet cat foods (they sent me the info very quickly!) and I decided to try the limited ingredient turkey. Bianca loves this stuff so much that she snarfs down almost an entire 3oz can as soon as I put her food down. This has never happened before and she's 16 years young (12 of them with me) so that tells me that the ingredients really are as wonderful as they appear to be to me, the lowly human in this story. • Instinct can food is not good!

    By on

My cat "Jovii" didn't like the Instinct, and it was a very stinky food. Also, once you open the can, the food starts to mold so quickly! Asking for a refund today. Very unhappy with this product!

  • My cat loves it!

    By on

My picky Sphynx Fellini cat fell in love with this food, which made me very happy, because I heard such good things about it. First, good nutrients, second it's pretty soft, means he gets enough liquid with it, and it's full of vitamins. My other two rescue cats slowly getting into this food too and they are very much addicted to Proplan, no matter how much I tried to introduce them to other brands. So I hope they will convert soon too.

  • Better than the chicken

    By on

One cat likes the turkey but also not in love. She doesn't finish the small portion I leave for her. Cats love the cheap food best. It's tough switching to a healthier option.
