No. The instructions on the package read 'keep package sealed to maintain freshness'. Refrigeration is not required.

Is this pathogen-free?

This recipe is raw. Instinct uses High Pressure Processing (also known as HPP or Cold Pressure) on all of their frozen and freeze-dried raw recipes to ensure they are free from pathogenic bacteria like Salmonella, E. Coli, and Listeria. This is the same process used for human foods like cold-pressed juices and guacamole. They also test every batch for safety before it leaves their facilities.

Instinct by Nature's freeze-dried Raw Boost Mixers - whether labeled "cat" or "dog" - are suitable for either species since they are for supplemental feeding and not a complete and balanced meal. They are packaged differently to make it easy for cat and dog parents to easily locate them in their pet store, but nutritionally these Mixers can be served interchangeably.

My kitty loves them

I got a bag from a friend whose cats didn’t have an interest in them but knows I have a foodie cat who isn’t picky. No shock she did in fact go crazy for these

I got a bag from a friend whose cats didn’t have an interest in them but knows I have a foodie cat who isn’t picky. No shock she did in fact go crazy for these. I like them because while they have a long ingredient list than I usually go for they are very wholesome and clean. She is used to freeze dried treats so took to these no issue. I like that they are small and easy to break in half to make them last longer. Good for training (used to teach my kitty to sit and high five) she’s very food motivated. As well as for snuffle mat type work, her having to work or search for them. Also while she has a very clean diet (raw fed, natural food and treats) she still tends to have a little dry skin, little bit of dry skin flakes/dandruff. I think since giving these daily(roughly maybe anywhere from 3-10 almost daily). She is roughly an 8lb 6 year old kitty. Picture for cuteness as she eagerly awaits these treats.

I have added Instinct as a topper to wet food mixed with dry dog food. My boy makes short work of it, he is getting older and I thought the Skin & Coat Recipe would be a good choice. In the past we have used the Gut Recipe with very good results.

Dog is interested in eating kibble again

Bought this as an additive to help a coat that was starting to look dry on his rear. The coat is now very silky. Great product.

I think this is a great raw food topper. My dog absolutely loves it and it makes his coat shiny & healthy and even though it was a little bit pricey for a 12.5 ounce

I think this is a great raw food topper. My dog absolutely loves it and it makes his coat shiny & healthy and even though it was a little bit pricey for a 12.5 ounce package at around $15-$17, I could still make it last 3 to 4 weeks, just topping a little bit on his food every night, which he looked forward to greatly... now for some reason, I can’t find it anywhere locally and Chewy has doubled the price so instead of $16 or $17 it is actually $32 which is just crazy and they should be ashamed of themselves for price gouging like that. I’m disgusted and really disappointed that I can’t get the topper that my dog loves. About to wash my hands of this place.
