Is it safe to have clay in wet cat food? I noticed this brand does.
Answer by ChewyJun 29, 2020
Montmorillonite Clay is approved by AAFCO for use as an anticaking processing aid to adsorb excess moisture and to help keep the food from clumping.

Why do they need to put Biotin in their food? Unless of course the egg products they are putting in will cause our cats to have a deficiency in Vitamin H? Can anyone explain this to me? I could be wrong but that is why I am asking.
Answer by ChewyApr 02, 2021
Biotin, also known as vitamin H or B8, is a water-soluble, nitrogen-containing vitamin that is imperative for cell growth, the production of fatty acids, and in the metabolism of fats, carbohydrates, and proteins. Biotin has been shown to strengthen keratin found in nails and footpads.

Mush, not for my cats

The "pate" does not hold like the pate in other brands, it was almost like a mush, which my cats aren't big fans of. They couldn't really bite into it, they ended up just licking it and it takes forever for them to eat and then they would get tired of eating. I would have to spoon feed them, and only then they would finish their food. They really love the freeze dry raw toppers, and I liked the list of ingredients so I thought I should give it a chance, never again with canned food from this brand

Good ingredients

I spent plenty of hours researching for a brand of cat food that is healthy without breaking my budget. It was a relief to finally find one, Instinct! However, my cat didn't like this food at all. He ate the chicken a duck first few days then stopped touching the food altogether. He only liked the salmon. Other reviewers mentioned that the quality of food, ingredients and location of food production has changed. That may have caused many cats to not like this brand anymore. I am heartbroken by that. Have to find a different healthy brand now.

Fuzzy cats

Well my two house cats won’t eat this but their very fuzzy the cat I rescued loves it ..so I guess it’s just my spoiled cats ..it’s a larger can of cat food which I liked

Quality Food

My cat likes this food. Out of the three flavors, she likes the duck and salmon best. She isn’t too crazy about the chicken flavored.

won't touch this

My boss Theodore isn't remotely interested in trying any of the flavors, even after adding favorite enticements such as cheese or salmon snacks. He likes Instinct's freeze-dried foods but this wet canned food is a definite no.

Spoiled Cat Food

Ordered in September 2022. The salmon flavor made all three cats vomitted, and made one of them had bloody diarrhea, and needed to see his vet. See pics. Cats hesitated to eat the other flavors of the pack.

food is fine

My cat doesn’t like it much and he eats pretty much anything. It’s an oddly wet texture, even for pate. I also found the cans extremely hard to open.

Looks like a great product

Unfortunately, my two boys did not like any of the recipes. They were in a rescue for years eating cheap canned food. They don't know what's good for them. Don't like poached sockeye salmon or a bit of grilled chicken breast. We are used to having cats that want to have a piece of the good life. These cans open easily, the food inside looks and smells good (to me) - but our boys are not enthusiastic. What're ya gonna do?

Kidz did not like it

Although I like the ingredients. I have two cats that would not touch it. The other 5 are it the first day or two after that it was less and less they would eat of it until I was basically throwing it all out.

Recipe Change!

Major deception, I finally was content about my cats food, until this morning. I was opening a can of Salmon and just looked down and saw an ingredient that is on my no no list. But according to the website it is not there. I compared the cans ingredients to the website ingredients and they are totally different, they have removed the montmorillonite clay and replaced it with Guar gum, which is not that bad then I realize they have added K3! But also have added more fruits & Veggies and this includes kale, which is very good. But Why would they add K3 when kale is up high on the ingredient list! I am willing to overlook the Guar gum, but when it come to the artificial K3, that is not necessary in this formula I can not. I don’t trust Instinct anymore! I have added a photo of the can ingredients, to compare to the written ingredients. I have just received a shipment so I am stuck feeding this to my cats till the next shipment that definitely will not be Instinct!
