Ms why is this required?
I consistently received dented cans and cans that lost their seal. Chewy is great, they refund or send replacements. I’ve ordered all the flavors, (including the venison!). My cats love it, but I hate the hassle and am afraid one can will slip by me and I will feed them spoiled food. Where is the quality control? Or does Chewy received the rejects and sell them cheaper? If you don’t see a dent on your can, look at the bottom - they are all dinged. I’m either going to switch to a different brand or go to the pet store and look at their cans. Either way - I cancelled my auto-ship and will not order this from Chewy. Pictures attached.
One of the Best Cat Food on Market
To me this is the ideal food for cats. Just look at the ingredients, so clean and lean. Rather than chicken all the time which I hear could lead to chicken overload and results in allergy, I decided to include rabbit in my cats food rotation. So far they have not warmed up to it yet but I am not giving up, will keep trying even if it takes weeks and months.
So far so good!
My Benny was diagnosed with food allergies, namely anything with fish. He was chewing himself raw, scratching and overgrooming his face and ears red. No fleas or mites to be found. Along with a Depomedrol injection, my vet prescribed the Hill's Z/D food but since he was a stray, out on his own for awhile and living on birds and rabbits, I thought this food would be a better start. Well he loves it! He has stopped chewing and scratching himself and while it could be the depomedrol, I'm thinking it's the food because his last injection only lasted 3 weeks and we are at one month now. So far, so good.
Great product, but not for my new kitties
My late cat loved the Instinct Rabbit as he was allergic to chicken and some other animal products. I bought some for my new kitties in chicken and rabbit but they aren't fond of it. I recommend Instinct food overall if your pets would enjoy it.
Cats refuse to eat
We have two cats, and one has food allergies. They've been on the Instinct Rabbit dry food, but were losing weight, so tried this, and the minced version too. Both of them refused it. I just bought a brand the vet recommended, and they love it.
THIS FOOD IS LEGIT, A+ don't believe the rumors
(Don't believe all the negative hype around the Rabbit) I was fearful of ordering this food due to the negative comments/reviews. However bit the bullet and bought two 5.5oz can cases for my 9yr old female Tabby "Diva." Let me just say that the food is totally fine. I got her the chicken, rabbit, & duck in 5.5 cans. Diva loves them all the same. The rumors of iffy smells & bone fragments need not worry you. The bones are more like itty-bitty fragments, easily digestible, and appear kind of soft-like tendons & cartilage almost. For God's sake the dang peas/carrots are bigger in size than the supposed bone fragments are, lol. All three cans, Chicken, Rabbit, Duck...when opened look basically identical in every way, other than mild color difference & smell. Patte-style, same amount of peas/carrots. My cat apparently is indiscriminate, Haha. -The Duck she picks at, leaves quite a bit in the bowl actually. -The Chicken she leaves minimal scraps. -The Rabbit she licks the bowl clean. All I gotta say is you better buy this rabbit up while it's nearly 1/2 off right now. Cheap <$25. What a deal!!!! ***the only downside to the Rabbit wet food I rotate into her diet is, the kcal amount is slightly lower than the other recipes offered. So I supplement it with some Raw Boost kibble or healthy treats to meet her proper kcal intake. Other than that, its identical to the chicken and duck to lil' Diva.
Cans lost seal; meat is rotten
All the cans arrived "flexible" - you could press in the can significantly and when opened, the food was pulled away from the sides. Some smelled ok, but some had a horrible, rotten smell. Please quality control and refund my purchase.
Hoppy to let you know
The rabbit flavor was not one my fur girls were familiar with, so I was apprehensive but hopeful. After mixing in the PhosBind, and placing it down for them, they didn't hesitate; snouts deep into the plates until it was almost gone!
1 Out of 2 Approved
One of my cats is extremely picky and the other will eat anything. This allows me to try new foods without worry that it will go to waste. My picky cat would eat a little bit of this and then walk away but my other cat would swoop in and finish it off. Wouldn't order again but it's a great food if your cat will eat it.
Good source of lean protein
My cat has IBS and cannot tolerate chicken. There is chicken in most foods for cats. This one has helped control his issues
