13 year greyhound loves this food!
When our 13 + year old female greyhound had (understandable) appetite issues in the days following major teeth and gum work, I sought this food out in desperation to bring her appetite back. It immediately proved to be a favorite for Baby the greyhound; I give it to her when accompanying her medications and supplements, along with the slow cooked shredded chicken. On its own, it is a very appealing and healthy food for adult and senior dogs.
Good ingredients but not good for my dogs
I have Swedish Vallhunds and several have food sensitivities so I was hopeful that this would be a good premium food to pack for trips to shows and on vacation. Unfortunately three of the four dogs that received this food vomited within a few days of introducing 25% into their daily rations. I have a senior Norwegian Elkhound with an iron stomach so I will feed the remaining pouches to her over the next few weeks, unless she throws up as well. The ingredients look great and the food smells good but there’s just something in there not suitable for my dogs. Lamb and brown rice formula, the shelf stable packs.
Loves it!
Eva is elderly and has had over half her teeth removed, and has been having severe gut issues and loss of appetite. She loves this food and ate it all up right away the first time, and continues to want it. She's been having relief from diarrhea and abdominal pain as well. I just cut the package open with scissors and use half a container since She's little. I refrigerate the second half in the container and take it out ahead of time to warm to room temp. I use a butter knife to scoop it out, no big. Since it's getting colder out I might mix a bit of warm water with it since it's nice and thick. I started with a six pack but just bought two 12 packs and started autoship. It's a bit pricey but anything for my best friend. She's a good old girl.
Excellent dog food
I switched to Justfoodfordogs when my pup’s blood test showed beginning stage of kidney deterioration. With sprinkle of ground egg shells and other supplements, this food has been great and her kidney is stable now.
Libby wants to know why Just Food For Dogs doesn't make Chicken and Brown Rice?
Libby loves chicken but her vet said she needs Brown Rice not White Rice. She is not crazy for the taste of Lamb and the Turkey and whole wheat pasta upset her tummy
Fabulous food
Dog's life has improved beyond what we had hoped. He loves the taste, his coat, skin, breath and stool have improved drastically. Never will we go back to kibble again!
Almost Human
I was fortunate to receive the lamb and brown rice recipe of Just Food for Dogs as part of a sample program. I prefer not to give my dogs’ dry food and was surprised to see how much Just Food for Dogs very closely resembles human food, more so than my current brand of dog food. You can really see the ingredients, which leaves no question as to what the food is made from and I feel good feeding my dogs Just Food for Dogs for that reason. To avoid any stomach issues, I have been slowly introducing Just Food for Dogs as a meal topper and appears be well tolerated so far. Just Food for Dogs comes in a very sturdy carton, is easy to access the food and remains sealed after closing. I recommend serving Just Food for Dogs if you are looking to provide your dog high quality human grade ingredients closely resembling food you make for yourself along with the added and essential vitamins and minerals. I look forward to seeing and offering my dogs other available varieties.
Awesome product
I received the just food for dogs through a sample program and tried it with one of my furbabies. My kids are extremely picky with what they will or wont eat and one of them has a very sensitive tummy. The one with the sensitive tummy tolerated it extremely well and had him eagerly waiting for the next meal. I was very impressed with the food as it does look like something a human would eat. It isn't full of fillers or preservatives that leave the kids unfulfilled. I would love to be able to give my kids this every day. However, I do have 5 furbabies and they are all of the larger breed so unfortunately due to cost alone I cant make the switch. I have recommended this product to many people as I do think it is a wonderful product.

It is dense
I have used this Lamb variety for four orders at 6 per order. It is very, very dense so I add about 1/4 cup of hot water to make it more of a stew. All of my dogs love it. I do give my dogs a variety of different brands and it seems like they produce less fecal material with this than with the other brands and the fecal matter is solid and looks healthy (I know, gross, right?). It is a bit pricey so like I said, I change off with different brands throughout the month but any of the good quality brands are all pricey too. I have 5 chihuahuas (and we're expecting a Corgi at the end of the month!!) all under 4 pounds so one carton with the water gives them an evening meal and a treat the next morning for breakfast.
