Our birds really like this compared to another brand that I used to feed them. Kaytee Western Wild Bird Food has less red millet, the birds kick out the red millet. It has a good amount of black oil sunflower seeds. Also some striped sunflower seeds. There is less waste with this brand.
A well blended bird food that meets all the needs of the birds in my area. Good price and excellent service.
I do not know what has changed with my birds favorite seed, but it is not the same anymore! When I received my auto shipment a few weeks ago I noticed immediately that the color of the seed was not same. It was more bleached looking. In addition I noticed that my feeders were barely being eaten. I would normally fill my feeders up to 3 times a day and now 1 could last a week! When I mentioned to Chewy that this feed seemed defective, they immediately sent out another shipment. I had hoped it was just that lot. Sadly this would not be the case! My little birds don’t even bother coming around like they did! Now I will write the company to find out what has changed and why!
I live in Los Angeles and this is the best bird feed - we get plenty of finches, sparrows, and mourning doves as well as an occasional oak titmouse.
with this seed. As are squirrels. First crows, then squirrels, then every sparrow you can imagine, golden crowned kinglets, California towhees, doves, and pigeons all love this seed. It appears each flock eats their own favorite and then the next flock comes for theirs, repeat, repeat. It's delightful to see.
The birds in my area have obviously told their friends because I can’t keep the food is the container for more than a day before it’s gone. Birds love it!
I usually have to fill my bird feeders at least once a week. This food has been in the feeder way longer and isn't going down. Not 1 bird I've seen at it actually eating! I am bummed. What a waste of money. Why??
My neighborhood finches visit my bird feeder all day long since I started giving them this. They used to scoop out half the seeds of the cheaper blend looking for the ones they want, now they eat and enjoy with much less waste.
The ratio of sunflower seeds is too high for the birds in my yard. I will switch to something else.
My little migrating birds are waiting in the trees in the morning for this seed. High quality.
